So you may remember that I bought a PERFECT E39 530d M Sport 6 months ago?

Metallic grey, 18 inch Parallels, grey leather, mapped to 220hp - I absolutely loved it!

BUT

Having a Cerbera in the garage meant it was difficult for me to get excited about the 530d. I had originally been looking at e39 M5s prior to buying the 530d but in the end settled on the grey car as it was in perfect condition.

However 10,000 miles later, I decided I needed to experience an M5 and so....here it

Apologies for the crappy pics - will get some better ones in the week

Spec is:
2001 facelift
Nav
Heritage leather
Le Mans blue
90K miles
Full history
One owner until this year, one subsequent

Impressions:
Well it/'s pretty quick but not mentally so like th Cerbera
It certainly gets to triple figures very quickly but doesnt feel like it is doing it!
I thought maybe the MAFS were playing up as it is a bit lumpy around town but they are fine (did the secret BMW technicians test on the computer!!)
Wheels have been refurbed and leather treated
Only thing the car needs is a rear wheel arch rust repair and door bottom - booked in for 2 weeks time and very reasonable

So that's it! I think I will be visiting the petrol station regularly but its worth it for that sound and the way the car seems "proper"!!!!

Enjoy!

Was grinning myself when I looked at that so can imagine you're fairly happy! What a beauty, my favourite BMW ever!

What's happened to the exhaust pipes mate? They're hanging down a bit and sticking out too far for standard....

Best colour! Well done.

I think it is just the angle of the photo

Tomorrow's job is metal polish and wire wool to get those stainless pipes looking great again!!

Looks like a lovely example, do you mind me asking what you paid?

I keep looking at them but from ad photos you cant tell if they are any good or not, presumably to get a decent one you have to may mid-high prices for one as opposed to paying 8k!

Is the heritage leather well rated? I prefer the look to black/grey but do like some other the other black/colour options but saw an ad the other week which was worded something like 'this is the real deal, not a wood clad heritage leather example' which confused me a bit.

Excellent choice in car! Not that I'm biased! :P

Mine was quite lumpy at low revs, but was cured when I had a number of jobs done (vanos, timing, cam position sensors, hydraulic lifters), but so long as its producing good power, I wouldn't worry about it. Mine wasn't, but certainly is now.

E39

got to be the best looking sedan going. E39 M5 is my dream car and I'll be having one thats for sure...PhD needs doing first though!!! But hopefully I can then get a job with a salary fit enough to meet the running costs!

Sorely tempted even by E39 530's (i or d, doesnt matter) even though I desperately want a focus ST, in orange. You can get a good E39 for the same money.
