So, after coming off my company car scheme, a BMW 330i SE Touring was acquired to supplement my Mazda MX5 Track/Weekend car. After a period of running two cars, I decided to rationalise a little into one - the problem that I had was that the 330i was too refined, too competent, too good... The MX5 simply wasn't getting the use it deserved - whilst it was the perfect anti-thesis to the previous company Passat at the weekend, I tended to find myself driving the 3 series all the time.

So a change was on the cards, the MX5 was sold first, and the hunt began.

Armed only with the brief of 'Something I want' as the criteria, I set off to find a car that was interesting, and grabbed my attention. Much was dismissed for being too fast (Really?), too competent, too 'Germanic', too common, too pretty much everything!

I was beginning to think that the car I wanted didn't exist in my meagre budget.

Then I saw it. I giggled. I wanted to buy it.

So I did...

It's noisy. It's impractical. It's bad on fuel.

But it's mine, it has that body kit. It's in that colour. It has those seats.

I love it.

And if that's not what being a petrolhead is all about, I don't know what is.

May all of your car purchases be this badly planned and completely un-thought through. I raise a glass to buying a car based on heart, not head. I've never tried it before. I like it! smile

Very nice mate, some good options!

I have a 200 as my company car, you're right, they're terrible on fuel. Haha

Nice car! I did exactly that six weeks ago. Needed a sensible cheap car to get to work and use over winter. Two days later I drove home in a 3 litre RWD covertible! Don't think the head got a look in on that one..

That car is fantastic. I'd lose all the spoilers, though.

Cheers! I 'doff (sp?) my cap to whoever originally specced it; I have visions of a conversation in a Renault dealership in late 2008 along the lines of...

"...Air con? Air con? What would I want that for? £850 for some seats, that's where the sensible moneys at!..."

Yes, the 'be-winged' approach is divisive. Everyone hates it but me. Hey ho! hehe

Under normal circumstances I would tend to agree with most, but in this case, it just looked so right. I can't put my finger on it, but it gels so well in the flesh

It is indeed Bradford, but i'm not, so to speak. I'm about 90 miles south. smile Thanks for the heads up on the 197 forum though - bookmarked for later reading!

The seats make the car IMO.

Hope you enjoy it.

Probably the most aggressive looking RS Clio I've ever seen. I tend to think the spoiler looks a little silly on these cars, but on this one it does just look "right". Makes it looks like one of the S2000 Clio rally cars. Ace motor, enjoy it.

Excellent choice , and imho it needs the spoiler as it just looks so bland and boring at the back without it .
I'd love an alien green 200 with all the bits if i had the wedge .
