Hi All

Bought this nice SL in May for the summer sun!
It's a 95 pre facelift 500 SL with 96K miles on the clock. Bought it for just over 5K and have the original bill of sale that was over 70K! Its built of granite, goes pretty well when you knock it into manual and looks beautiful.

This is how is what was when I bought it:

Since then I have detailed it, had it lowered 35mm on PI springs and most importantly got a matching hardtop for the winter. Picked up the hardtop in silver on ebay for £80 and spent a couple of hundred quid getting it resprayed.

Future plans are sorting out a new drivers seat module (cant move electric seats!) and a free flow back box to open up the sound of that lovely 5.0 V8. I may get some clear front indicators and the facelift rears

Amazing value for money - grab one while you can!

I almost have the perfect garage for now:

Great looking car, nice to see one in a colour other than 'default silver'! Really suits the car to be honest.

Really nice looking motor. I think that colour really suits the car well.

I hope you enjoy your SL and get many more miles of enjoyment out of it.

Do you have interior pics?

I would put the SL on some nice 8-holes and ditch the AMG reps.

I am always amazed at the cost of the solid hardtops, they go for buttons on eBay- especially considering the panoramic ones are 20 times the price of what you paid for yours. Bargain there, hardtop makes it a much nicer place to be.

Here is a pic of the M5 - sorry it's not a very good one!

Got it a couple of weeks ago, having traded my E39 530d Sport

The 530d (mapped!!!!!!!!!!!)

Thet has now given way to the M5 - had £2000 spent on it this year on new Vanos. Just had Mafs replaced and diff seals. New Mafs much SUCH a difference!! Will spin up the wheels in 3rd!!
I have sent the car to the body shop today for a rear wheelarch repair and boot lid rust. Should come back gorgeous!

And for the TVR lovers, a sneaky Cerbera pic!

Cheers

Simon

Not to worry you, but I did read a bit about the seats before I bought mine. The seats have something along the lines of various ECUs. I have also read about people dismantling the door switch and cleaning and getting them working again. Might be simple - might not.

I think the new regs come in on the 1st Jan - so it could well be beneficial to get the car MOT'd end of December to buy yourself some more time to fix......?
Alex can you link me to the new regs on this? It's all a bit concerning, airbag light is on on my e38 at the moment, and on my clio actually!

Are we saying that basically everything electrical on a car has to work to pass the MOT now?
