Fiat Coupe 20V Project
Discussion
Following on from this thread I am now the proudish owner of a Fiat Coupe 20V.
Bought off ebay for £236, but there is a reason for it being so cheap, as the pictures will reveal. It has black leather, aircon ,decent bit of history and had a cambelt and waterpump not too long ago.
The OK Stuff -

The not so OK -

The N/S door doesn't open at the moment. I know that it is going to be a biggish repair job, but I think the car is basically sound and it's cheap enough that I'll always get my money back by breaking it, but that is NOT the intention! The car still has MOT, so is currently usable.
I know it's one of those purchases that doesn't make any sense really, but it will give me something to tinker with and keep me occupied on these long winter nights! Underneath the damage there is a decent car waiting to resurface. It drove fine on the way home apart from having candles for headlights - felt nice and taught on the road, and went well enough when pushed. Great engine note as well - a plus side of it not being a turbo is that the exhaust note is a bit rortier as standard!
Progress will not be rapid, but there is plenty to get on with other than sorting the obvious damage, such as tidying up the interior trim, making a few cheap improvements, that sort of thing!

It certainly needs a new door, and will need a new rear quarter/door shut, as the impact has gone through the door and into the quarter, and folded the inner part of the door shut against the wing itself.
If you look at the picture below, there is what looks like a length of beading running down the door shut - this is actually the right angle of the shutline of the rear quarter, where it has compressed and moved against the wing. This explains why the door won't open, and is what makes the job a lot more complicated than just sticking on a new door and a bit of filler on the wing. I suspect it will need a replacement section cut in for the rear quarter and door shut. Not much work there then!

Thanks for the tip re FCCUK - I joined the other day!

Doesn't look as bad as you described it. Weren't throwing us off the scent at all?
Good buy there chap. As I mentioned on the other thread supercharging an N/A is a fairly straight forward process and can give you 20Vt performance with out the all or nothing boost characteristics of a tuned turbo engine. Progressive boost with a smooth engine.
Get yourself a cup of coffee and some Jaffa Cakes before you open this link...

...interesting reading eh?
Have fun with the re-build I've already bookmarked the thread.
