My 1988 Mitsubishi Pajero SWB with a difference
Discussion
So I bought this back in June to use to tow crap.... Mostly my race car as seen here:

Nothing special at the moment, its old, rough but a pretty sweet 4x4 and serves the purpose I got it for well enough. Was running the 2.5L Turbo Diesel but it over heated and died about 300km from home the other weekend, got it towed home and heres where its going to get interesting. Plan is to fit a Lexus V8 (1UZ-FE) to it with an adaptor plate to mate it up to the original mitsubishi manual 4x4 gearbox.
I havnt made much progress at the moment apart from pricing things up and it should be a similar cost to fit the 1UZ as it would be to fit another 4d54t into it which is slow and will likely blow up again.
For now heres some photos, I will update this with progress as I get on

Blown radiator hose which was just the start of its overheating issues

Few shots of it in the background at Taupo track

Minor update but it is some positive news
Pulled the motor yesterday, can turn it over by hand and theres no resistance at all so thats toast but we already knew that.
Ive been doing a bit of research about the 1UZ into a Pajero, Ive only found one thats been done so far but its just a youtube video with no detail and a whole bunch of threads where people have had the idea to do this but never done it (and im determined for this to deffinatly go ahead).
During my research i found that the automatic trans used in the pajeros is actually a toyota item, infact is the same toyota item used behind the 1UZ, but my pajero is a manual and im going to keep it manual... but this got me thinking.
So today I found a bellhousing bolt pattern diagram with measurements for the 1UZ, the 1UZ is 6 bolt looking at this diagram and my gearbox is 4 bolt but I measured it anyway and the 4 bolts in my gearbox measure up to be the same as the 1UZ.... This just got a whole lot easier, im on the lookout for some precise measurements just to be on the safe side, so if any one can help that would be great

Thanks for the links, but they all talk about the later model pajero than what I have which runs the 4m40 motor rather than the 4d56t I run. They also have a very different body/chassis and the engine bay is alot tighter too. The early pajeros like mine have a fairly large engine bay
