Daily Diesel Megane

Hi been on here a while and not posted anything i dont think, so i thought id start of with my megane.
Its a megane 1.5 dci 106 dynamique s. Thankfully the owner before me, an old gentleman decided to tick plenty of extra nice little options on it for me. Such as
Panaramic roof
Renault "steppe" 17inch alloys
6 disc changer underneath standard cd player
Air con
Electric Mirrors
Compared to my last car a honda civic 1.7 coupe this is a gadget goldmine. I think the best bit of all is it only costs £30 a year to tax, and thank god i bought the megane 2 and not the earlier models which are apparently plagued with problems. This is a lovely car to drive, engine isnt to bad at all good torque 177ft·lb. Fairly nippy round town. Handles surprising well for a diesel, not heavy at the front the engine is rather light. Not sure if im correct here but this is what ive read on wikipedia

The model was revised in 2006, with changes in interior trim, specification levels and most notably, a new front nose. A new front suspension system borrowed from the Mégane 2.0 225 PS (165 kW; 222 hp) was adopted, improving the driving performance.[3]"
Is this true? renault sport suspension on the megane phase 2?

Yes incredibly cheap £70 of diesel lasts me two weeks now, instead of having to put £50 in the honda each week. Think there abit of a car that some people steer clear from because its a renault, i was very unsure but my cousin has a clio 182 which is at about 110,000 miles now and nothing major has gone wrong with it i would say its no different to these vw boys which have big mileage figures on golfs.
Always liked these. I like the rear, even though it's not the most practical.
Nearly bought a 1.9 5 door but the guy selling it was trying to pull the wool over my eyes about why he had the car. Told me he bought it as a little run about. Really he'd tried to play his luck turning a car over from an auction in the hope of a quick buck. Was generously described as well... In the end left it. But on the test drive it was very good, picked up well, rode well, nice and refined. What more do you want?!

Thats very unfortunate , atleast you did the good thing and walked away from it. How did you know it was from auction? I'd be interested in a long term report on this car.
You can get leggy 1.9DCI models for £1700 now. I was looking at one for a commuter car.
I like the looks of the three door, but I have reads fair few reviews that'll point to expensive problems it's electrics including windows and engine electrics.

Thats the sort of things that have worried me about renaults, mine has been fine so far done about 5000-6000 miles with no problems. Only thing i have had is the battery went flat in the keycard which basically renders your car useless carnt get into it, so carnt start it etc. Had to wedge the wrong sort of battery in so i could get to the nearest supermarket who luckily had the right sort and then rush to work! Megane is very laid back handles well better than the civic alot more grip. Because the civic was long it had a tendency to step the back out in the wet.
