Mk2 Leon Cupra
Discussion
Hi there,
Been lurking for a while and I thought it was about time I posted something, so here it is, my 07 Leon Cupra. Had it for 11 months now and have enjoyed driving it in that time. It's totally standard except for the black grill surround. I'm thinking about getting it mapped, apparently it should see up to 300bhp with just a stage 1! Anyone on here got any experience of that?
Anyway thanks for looking.

A friend of mine had a yellow Leon Cupra R (was it a 53 plate...? I think so, it was the older shape, which I much preferred). It was definitely one of the most striking things on the road, in yellow with a Miltek exhaust that sounded and looked amazing. It was mapped up with a few upgraded internals and it must have been putting out around 260-270bhp. Very surefooted too, it wasn't one for torque steer or lighting up the inside wheel on a bend. Stupidly fast as I recall as well. A car I'll never forget!
For the money a 2nd hand one is a hard car to overlook. Lots of power and more refined than say the VXR. Falling into the 3MPS catagory now of 'you would be silly not to look at........'
I do prefer the old shape though but in the metal the cars are smart(although only seen an FR to date). A nice change to an ST with their rarity.

When I bought this I looked at a Focus St, Astra VXR and Golf GTI ed30, and the Seat was the one that stood out for me. I liked the VXR but for me the driving position was shocking, I just didnt like the look of the ST in the flesh and the Golf was 3 Grand more expensive with a much higher mileage. I know it won't hold it's value as well as the golf but 3 grand is a hell of a lot for what boiled down to nothing more than a nicer interior imho. Plus I already had a mk5 golf GTTDI so I wanted a change.
I think i've only seen two or three mk2 cupras since I've had the car, so it certainly feels rarer than an ST or VXR.
Everyone bangs on about the dash etc being poor quality and to a certain extent I agree, but the gear stick, pedals, steering wheel and seats are all quality items. It could do with making a better noise, and there are a few creaks and rattles now, but with the firmness of the suspension I guess that's to be expected.
Overall if I had to go back and choose between the four again I would still choose the Seat!
