"2 new cars in a week i bet you think that's pretty clever don't you boy?"

Woke up last Friday, still pished and my mate proclaims he needs some drive space to buy a sensible family car (Impreza Wagon) and do i want to buy his Mx5?

New suspension, brakes, MOT'd for a year and an LSD fitted to the rear.

I think i'd said yes before i'd read the 1st message properly. Always had these around with mates and burds owning them but never actually owned one myself. We were looking at halfing in for a v8 conversion when he originally bought this, that fell through so i went with him to buy this one, so i know it pretty well.

Anywhos went and picked this up on Tue night.

Looks not bad. Later style wheels and it's a Gleneagles version. Think it's had a few Eunos parts added by the previous owner.

Had today off so this afternoon i set about cleaning it and starting the mods.

I had a couple of damn good Mk3 Mr2 wheels in the garage so i tried them on for size. Think i'm defo gonna find a pair for the rear, i'm liking them.

Drilled the airbox for noizes biggrin No pics i'm afraid but will be fitting an Apexi filter at some point.

And added my OlberMOTIVE stickers to get it half way to an el cheapo mod fest.

Gonna run this for the summer as is, maybe a home brew SC kit.

Come winter, i'll decide on it's real fate. But those 1UZFE's do sound pretty dan good uncorked whistle

Tidy wee car, but it's not a Gleneagles - they came in Montego Blue, had cream leather seats and tonneau cover, tartan gearstick gaiter and logbook folder (classy), fake wood dash and were a UK-only special edition (judging from the rear plate and 3rd brake light that's a grey import). Had a Gleneagles, wrote it off frown .

Want a cream leather tonneau cover and storage bag or boot-top luggage rack? tongue out

Nice find Olie, good to see my tales of woe of the MX5 and sill-rot has only made you go out and buy one of the things!

Looks to be in good pretty good nick, don't think I've seen one sit as low as that but it doesn't look bad at all. I'd have been interested in the wheels had I not discovered the rot in mine is deepr than I thought and is probably going to cost me a wee bit more than expected to sort after today's investigations hehe

Getting a post in to keep the thread in My Stuff.

Still interested to hear how it compares to a Mk2 Mr2!

I've got plenty of spares laying about my bedroom if you're in need of any cheap mods. hehe

I don't think they would suit a two tone scheme..

Minilites can look good.. darkish anthracite and stick with the green tongue out

Get the hood drain channels rodded to make sure they are clear - prevent any further rot in the sills (because it will have some).

My 53 plate looked immaculate, but even it was rotting from the inside out.

I ran Rota RBs on mine, in anthracite with polished lip - good look IMO.

Would still have another in a heartbeat tho...

Aye, i'm expecting this to last a year tops.

Looking to buy a GTV Cup later in the year and turn this into a MEVX5 superlight over the winter i reckon. Keep it for sunny hoons and track days next year.

Haven't washed the damn thing in over a month. It gets used twice a week to drive to the burd's house. Starts, goes and stops every single time. Gotta love it.

Having some serious thoughts about going down this route with it when i have another car for being sensible in.

Unboltable cage for on track would make this feasible i think.
