Having been through 9 cars in my first 10 years of motoring(car history here: http://pistonheads.co.uk/gassing/topic.asp?h=0&amp... I thought it was time to bring the PH massive up to date with my most recent aquisitions.

So here goes; I'd been thinking of getting a cheap car to drive to work/the tip/anywhere dirty, and had been looking at Renault Lagunas, Citroen Xsaras and inexplicably any other oldish French hatchback. Anyway 2 weeks ago, whilst consuming large amounts of red wine to try and blot out the dreadful sounds of Britains Got Talent coming from my television, I bid on a car on ebay with a couple of minutes left. As I won my first ebay car, I realised the irony that could be found in the car costing almost the same as the Ipad I bought it on...

So, a few days later, armed with a fresh admiral multicar insurance certificate so I could get some tax, and feeling slightly apprehensive about parting with my hard earned cash on something I'd never seen before, I hopped on the train to pick up my new ride.

So here she is...

306 XSI. Its done just over 100k and even after I'd taxed it for a year came in well under SOTW budget. It's tidy enough, few minor things like rear window wiper that flops down to point at the road, but its been serviced on schedule throughout its life.
It's really good fun to drive as well, the first thing I noticed was the all round visibility that is much better than a more modern car. Its just feels so light and alert, without being crashy and overly stiff like so many modern cars.
I'm really trying not to get too attached to it, as I only bought it to run on a shoestring until it becomes uneconomic to own...
The issue is that Im spending less time driving this:

So now I leave my Porsche at home and drive my 12 year old Peugeot all the time. Hmmmm

Apologies for rubbish/lack of photos
