Having owned my Mk3 2.0 Sport for nearly three years I was wondering what to replace it with... The obvious answer was "another MX-5"! So, having spent a few months looking at the alternatives, I did. I wanted a Roadster Coupé (since it's available, why not!) and wanted something that was a little individual... Thankfully a local dealer had just what I was looking for, and at a fantastic price.
I pick it up in a couple of hours!! Cannot wait! It's exactly the same spec as my Mk3, except with the addition of Cruise Control, Bluetooth and the folding roof. However, it's not lowered, doesn't have upgraded brakes and certainly doesn't have the exhaust, so we'll see how I get on with it.

Well I managed some 700 miles in it's first week of ownership! Not bad eh?

It's a vast improvement on the Mk3, especially in the interior space, remarkably feels better built (wasn't sure that was possible) , there's more leather and soft fabric inside. The cruise control and bluetooth are exceptional (being able to have a phone conversation with the roof down at 70mph is a great thing!).
And the roof, well, it's amazing! 11-12 seconds from start to finish, I cannot believe the space it folds in to. Just perfect.

There are, regrettably, a few negatives though... I miss having a "shouty" exhaust, and going from lowered to non-lowered I'm finding it rolls a little, so I will have to get used to that. I'm not sure I want to lower it, and an exhaust is definitely on the "to-do" list. I have already ordered a SmartTOP for it, so that the roof can go down/up with one-touch and whilst moving!

More pictures to follow...

Where are the extra photos? I absolutely love the look of this, and would like to see some more pictures of the pearl-ness of it!

I can't help but think those wheels would look fantastic in Anthracite or Shadow Chrome.

Is that a Venture Edition? Had a very enjoyable morning a few weeks ago in one starting at 3am in one hooning about the Sussex coast. My first experience in one and I absolutely loved it, not keen on the ride, too fidgety and too much roll, but loved the noise, still felt quick compared even to my 330i. As you mention the bluetooth is good, and the satnav, being a built in tomtom is excellent. I didn't like the roof though, Looks wrong on it and visibility isn't great with it up so i just kept it down the whole time. Will definitely be looking at one in the future though, congrats on it and enjoy!

Hi Petrolveins - It isn't a Venture Edition, nope... I actually prefer the look of the silver wheels than the darker ones the Sport Black and Venture editions came with.
In the future this will be either lowered or have stiffer suspension fitted to reduce the roll. I don't have the sat nav as it's not a Venture Edition but I have my own TomTom already...!
The roof, a personal preference but the looks are easily outweighed by the security of the hard top and the ease of putting it down/up - just one button push (now that I've had the SmartTOP fitted)...

Thanks for all your comments :-)

Just back from a European Road Trip with some friends... Mileage is now just shy of 7,000 miles (not bad for 2 months eh), and I'm falling more in love as the days go by. A few quick photos from the trip:

Weather in France was great to start with, but as we moved in to Switzerland it got a bit grim:

Thankfully the next day it was perky, and as we moved around Switzerland and then went into Italy it got hotter and hotter. 39 degrees in Maranello!

We then visited Monaco, 30 degrees there, but very humid. Millau Viaduct next, then the Classic Le Mans with more friends.

All in all a great trip - now to give it a bit of a rest!!

Well... I said I was going to give it a bit of a rest... not sure that is strictly true!

It will tick over 10,000 miles in the next couple of days, after three months of ownership. I had it lowered a couple of weeks ago, and finally got my plate on it. Check out a couple of recent photos..:
