My 2010 VW Scirocco GT TDi 170

Hi All,

I purchased my Roc new in March 2010 - then had it transported to Niche Conversions for 2 weeks for a few aesthetic changes - namely Rieger R8 front bumper and sideskirts, Lowered 25mm, Oettinger rear skirt over Jetex quad exhaust, full blue leather interior re-trim inc doorcards & colour coded interior trims. Factory fitted extras were 19" Lugano wheels, Panoramic sunroof, Rear parking sensors, winter pack, RNS510 Satnav, Flat tyre indicator.
4 months later In July 2010 I got offered a job in Perth, Western Australia and we came out here in Nov 2010 - leaving the Roc in storage for a year before shipping it out here in Nov 2011. It has now just over 2 years old and has covered 14,000 kms. Not everyone's cup of tea I know - but I like it and that's all that matters. The Roc R is just getting introduced over here now so it raises a few eyes - when aussies don't know what it is. Your comments would be appreciated - negative or positive !! TJ

I love the colour, I cant personally see the point in a quad exhaust for a tdi, but as long as you like it

The 170 TDi is a cracking engine.
I had the 170 Golf GT TDi - brilliant fun to drive.

It looks good. Can't help think the aggressive styling is a little lost amongst the derv lump mind.

Like the Scirocco, looks smart and understated, but still sporty. Can't say I find the additions you have made styling-wise all that tasteful, but as long as you're a fan then that's all that matters.

I'd have the TDI one over the Petrol too.

Interesting. Why would you choose the diesel over the 2.0T engine?

Fair enough.

But apart from MPG, the petrol engine is better in almost every way surely? Engine is lighter, more responsive, revs higher, more power, quieter, and to most ears makes a much better sound.

Not owned, but have had an A3 2.0 TDI and a Focus TDCI as company cars.

Personally the engines really bored me due to the noise, throttle response\turbo lag (although this can apply to turbo'd petrols too) and the fact they redlined at 4k.

Each to their own I guess!

Coming back to the OP's car - Personally I think some 18"\19" BBS wheels would set the car off perfectly.

If a 4k redline is an issue you aren't driving it properly. In fairness to get the best out of a diesel does take practice. I'd rather have a 330d over a 330i for example

The OH's Stepdad has just bought one of these, also the 170 Diesel. I must say, I was very surprised at how grunty it was for a 4pot DERV! Like the engine tone very much!

Yours looks very smart, not too OTT with the bodywork. Any pics of the interior?
