My slightly tweaked ST220

Just thought I would post some pictures of how my ST220 is looking these days.
I got new wheels for it recently, they are normally fitted to Zetec S and some Ghia models. The original intention was to have them as track wheels but after I got them refurbished I feel i love with the look!
They are shod with Matador MP46 Hectorra 2's, very impressed with them so far in the wet weather and they seem nice and quiet too, a bargain at £85 each fitted for 225/40/18 !
I've also fitted some new vents to the front bumper, apart from liking the look, my filter sits in the bumper recess so this should allow heat to escape (hot air blows underneath when the a/c fans are on, raising the inlet temp)
The basic spec -
Dreamscience Race 97 remap
JP Exhaust with bullet silencers removed
OE Airbox with 2nd air feed enabled
Cooler 82c thermostat with Motul MoCool additive
NGK ITR6 Iridium plugs
Power at 248bhp and 220lb ft.
Eibach lowering springs all round
Front bumper vents
Powerflex bushes for the rear subframe
HID conversion
Fuelled on BP Ultimate97 or Shell V-Power Nitro

The exact colour is shadow chrome, the whole wheel is painted in black and then the transparent effect done over the top. The original wheel was diamond cut on the edge, as much as i wanted this finish its not very practical, so the chap i use for my work suggested building up the effect heavy on the edge, it works very well and exceeded my expectations! Some wheels i just cannot refurbish myself, just take a look at the state of them before!
I purchased the wheels for £110, sold two of the half decent tyres for £45 so they only cost me £65! The refurbishing wasnt cheap and when you add the cost of 4 tyres its still only a shade under £600 for the lot..

Actually I'm not sure what you are saying? That the name translates into something sinister and therefore the tyre must be crap?I took two months of research before i took the plunge to buy a set of tyres, the reviews on these was superb and so far, they are on par with my Hankooks on the old rims, themselves a very good tyre, except they cost £25-30 a tyre less and almost half the price of a Conti even though they are made in the same factory in france!
They are hardly ditchfinders, if thats what your thinking, something like a Fullrun, Wanli etc which are downright dangerous the moment it rains.

Two years ago I paid around £440 for it. Fitting it with the K&N mounted in the engine bay in those days made it run dangerously lean, so a Bluefin unit was added which put the fuelling bang on, in total it made a 10bhp with everything, but the map itself was very mild when it came to timing which is why i went to Dreamscience.Worthwhile doing for sound and looks alone, its a well made bit of kit and significantly lighter than the OE exhaust, together with the spare wheel being removed its actually 30kg lighter!

Really like the ZS wheels - look a lot better than I thought they might. My ST wheels are badly peeling, so currently looking at what to change them for, or to have them refurbed. Might just have found the answer.
Which front vent did you go for? Is that from a Skoda vRS of some sort? I've got Focus RS ones which have been blended in and painted to match.
Focus ST calipers really should have been on the car from standard - best upgrade I've done to mine. (Also have the JP exhaust and Bluefin).

The vent is off the latest model of Subaru, i saw it on Mick's car so i cannot take the credit for finding it, but did get it to fit spot on!
If you need wheels doing i can get the originals cut for around £60 each or £55 for the shadow chrome per wheel, this includes removing any flat spots they have have. It pained my to pay someone else to do the job, normal kerb damage is my specialty but heavy corrosion i always turn away.

I've read about the Matadors being suggested on TalkFord. So you haven't had any problems with them no? I have continentals on the front of my diesel version at the moment however the rears will need replacing soon, so the new tyres will be going on the front. You meantion they are not noisy which is a bonus.
Looks good lowered. I haven't got the balls to do it as I come across alot of speed bumps.

Conti's were OE when the ST220 came out, so Matadors, even if they aint the latest conti spec (usually a year behind) will suit just fine, I honestly can not tell any difference between these and the hankook V12 EVO's and GY Assymetics i had in the past, people can be a badge snob but they are missing out on a bargain IMO.
I've made improvements to power since, but it did a 14.7 @98mph last year at Pod when it was stinking hot and humid (june time) so i would expect it to be closer to a 14.4 @ 100mph now.
