Hi, I have joined this site to try and help my Dad. He has a red 1987 Nissan Silvia ZX Turbo 1.8 In good condition with only 60,000 miles. He hardly ever used it, just to drive to the shops and back really. Problem is now he is worried about getting parts for it and is buying a new car soon. Rather than him part chop it I said I would see if there was any interest in these types of car out there. I have found a ZX owners club site, but it does not appear to have many members! The car has developed an intermittent smoking exhaust, it runs fine, but every now and then smokes when idling. Nissan have been no help, saying it could be a number of things and wanting to charge him £80 an hour just to diagnose the problem, even though they say they would not be able to get the parts anyway. Do folks think it would be worth selling it? It is due it's MOT this week, hence why Dad is buying something else, but I wonder if this would sell even without an MOT for spares/repairs for more than he would get in part exchange. What do people think?

I should think someone in the retro Japanese scene would bite his hand off for an unmolested example.

Hi, thanks for replies. I will let him know that there is a market out there and see how much he wants for it. I'll also post pictures, if I can being a newbie and all.

Probably just the seals in the turbo, no big problem, should be easy to get hold of a working turbo for it for not much money.

Bloody hell, I remember looking at a white one in the local Nissan dealer.... brand new back in 1987 (I was six!) when my uncle was buying his Bluebird. I thought it was properly cool and to be fair, I still do. Must be seriously rare these days especially with that sort of mileage. Hope it goes to an enthusiast, not somebody who'll drift it, wreck it and scrap it. As for the blue smoke, perhaps turbo seals failing?

Car is in Nottingham, can I advertise it for sale on here? Do I have to post elsewhere, maybe a moderator can point me in the right direction?

There really is something incredibly retro cool about cars of this era, (and the 90's).
