I blame my father in law really. I bought his last Merc wagon in 2008 and was planning to keep it until it exploded, but then he got an itch and went shopping. Queue a phone call asking if I wanted to buy his now redundant Merc wagon.

Quick bit of advertising and some nice chaps from East London turn up and the old wagon was waved goodbye. So this is the old one:

Not the most exciting of cars in the world, but it soaked up 100k miles in the time I had it with ease.

The new one is a bit more interesting. Still a 220 diesel but this time with very few miles on it and lots of options:

Really really nice place to sit with lots of leather, black headlining, full command system with hard drive, sat nav, bluetooth, electric tailgate etc. Economy is OK with typical runs bringing in about 44 mpg which is OK given that this is the older engine with no stop start or anything of that nature.

Need to tidy up the wheels and do a few other jobs like taking off the rear badges yet. Then a bloody good polish.

Far from the most exciting of cars on PH, but I like it. Makes a nice partner to my wife's car:

I love these. My sister-in-law has one - think it's a 2011 or 2012 model so it has the latest engine, iPod integration, leather, powered tailgate, everything... Fab car. Self levelling rear suspension too, making towing so competent you hardly notice a 750KG unbraked trailer.

Since at least 05, they have been fine.
