1994 Renault Clio 1.8 16v

About 2 months ago, I decided to sell my BMW E39 M5 as it was costing quite a lot to run and I had a bit of debt I wanted to clear. So I decided I need something a bit cheaper that I can still enjoy and maybe do a trackday or two. At first I was looking at something along the lines of a Mini Cooper S, BMW 328i Sport, Nissan 200SX, MR2 Turbo or something similar.

After seeing Coops' Turbo Clio 16v thread in the Readers' Cars section, and liking the look of it, I thought I'd have a little look on eBay to see what was available, and funnily enough there was one fairly locally. I arranged a viewing for the next day and after looking at it I decided to make an offer. The deal was made, and the car was mine!

So I've been driving the car for nearly a month now and quite enjoying it. It's fairly nippy, nimble and fun to drive!

Anyway, took some pics today:








It's not perfect by any means, it needs an alloy refurb, the power steering is fairly noisy and doesn't seem very effective, and the bonnet is fairly badly dented and stone chipped. Other than that it's fairly tidy, and very original (bar the lowering and aftermarket exhaust).

I like it, if you get any dodgy running problems, hard to start or anything like that, change the coolant temp sensor, its on the right hand side of the engine block if I remember correctly (looking at the engine) they are about £15 and it sorted out a multitude of problems on an old clio I once had.

Nice car mate, couple of my pals have the same model but blue ones (common colour). With a williams wide track and polybushed etc they handle a treat!

Looks great in black,is the steering from a safrane? I remember 16v clios had a three point wheel similar to the willy.

My younger brother had one of these in 1997. He asked me to pick it up from the Mot centre once. I did and promptly put 100 miles on the clock.
Did I get found out?.....yes!

Lovely little car, watch out for rust on rear arches.

Lol, not really.. I may be in a small minority here, but I'm really not a fan of the williams colour scheme. Dark blue with gold wheels just doesn't work for me. Sure, I could change the wheel colour or whatever, but it would seem a bit like sacrilege..

Awesome little cars!! have an amazing induction roar if you put a induction kit on it and go faster than they are griven credit for imo. Also one of the most economical cars Ive ever had!! good buy.
