spudgun's 2003 Jaguar X-type 2.5 sport

I bought this back in February after I was bored to death with my 2005 Focus I had before it. Nowt wrong with it just a bit on the dull side.
I set myself a target of replacing all fluid and service items in drips and drabs when I got chance over the last 6 months and yesterday I finally got there so today I broke out the Autoglym and went to town.
When I went hunting it had to have a dark interior, it just had to. Cream or white leather is bit impractical for me, probably most too be honest. An auto didn't float my boat either.
On the servicing front there were a few surprises. I can't say I agree with Jaguar's "sealed for life" ethic. The rear diff need the oil sucking out of it and the transfer box needs a few add-ons to be able to drain and refill.
Yesterday saw the brake fluid changed, the throttle body cleaned, the spark plugs replaced (no mean feat as the inlet manifold has to come off) and I give all the injectors the once over in an ultrasonic cleaner. And here we are. The only thing I would have done differently was go for the 3 litre rather than the 2.5.
Fuel economy isn't great so I might as well done a proper job of it.

After the stereo upgrade I have planned, changing the rear silencers for something a bit more free-flowing was going to be a option. They look quite heavy with a lot of metal in them. I think the sport could afford to be a bit on the louder side. They do scrub up very well.Must admit I went straight for the 3.0 having read that it had more go and uses about the same amount of juice. Nice place to be. Sound good with a decent system too

That's what I did - went out, found a 3 litre that I liked, persuaded swmbo that it was (is) a good car & bought it! Great car despite the many who insist its just a Ford with a Jaguar badge stuck on!!! They do scrub up very well.Must admit I went straight for the 3.0 having read that it had more go and uses about the same amount of juice. Nice place to be. Sound good with a decent system too

Love mine so much that I have just treated her to some new wheels & tyres. She was on 19" MAK's - now she sits on 17" Fox 005's which look superb. From a brief blast up the M5 this morning I think that the road holding is slightly better & the road noise seems to have diminished slightly as well.
Anyone interested in the MAK's should check out my advert in PH classifieds.
Mine is a 2001 model which has got just 51k miles on it. It's got larger than standard exhausts so it sounds a little it fruity when i hit the right hand pedal.
Scrubs up well & looks great when the Autoglym has been out which is most weekends.
It's a keeper I think - for now at least!

Coo bugger! 19"'s must have made the ride a bit harsh. What profile was on them.It isn't!

As for the Ford in drag comments, it doesn't bother me at all. Nearly every car I have ever owned has some stigma attached to it by someone. I'm very impressed with how easy it is to work on given it's my first v6.
I'm with you though, for some reason I am really attached to it already. I love it.
They were 235/35ZR19"s - quite low profile when compared to the Falkens I have got on now. I hadn't realised until today quite how harsh the ride was on the 19's.
Off to Silverstone on Sunday for the PH Sunday Service @ the Ferrari Racing Day so will see just how good she rides as will go across country to give her a blast.
Hopefully the proper sized tyres will improve the fuel consumption which is my only gripe - coming back from Devon last week I managed to record a terrible 15 MPG...... although that might be to do with my heavy right foot!
I love the Jag. It's my first 'luxury barge' type car & it won't be my last. Personally I don't give a stuff when people say its a Ford - its got a Jaguar badge on it, I know it's a Jaguar so they can all get stuffed!!!
