Well I've been a member for a while so thought I'd finally make one of these...

It's a 5 door SRI turbo. Same engine as in the VXR but detuned to 150bhp.

Mods so far are Milltek cat back, mapped to 214bhp and 240lb/ft. Irmscher rear spoiler, grill covers and a Leon front splitter. Eibach springs all round with a geo setup from Thorney in MK. Alpine sound system.

I've been looking around recently for something to replace it with but not spotted anything that takes my fancy (that can do 30+ mpg as I drive 120 miles a day). It's pretty quick and the geo setup from Thorney with the springs makes a huge huge difference! It's the best roadcar I've had for backroads as it's not got alot of bodyroll but the standard shocks are fairly compliant. Might go from a whiteline ARB at somepoint to help even further.

I'm thinking of keeping it a few more years now and so thinking of going to town on it and going for a K04 turbo (as in the astra VXR) conversion which would make it a fast car.....but stumbling on paying £4k+ on that! Still....less that the 1st year depreciation on most family hatchbacks.

To be fair its the same engine as the VXR so 214bhp isnt that much of a pie in the sky figure. Its not visually as grabbing as the VXR but if you love it you love it.

If you like it that much why not put your car and the £4-5k its going to cost for ahte turbo into getting the Nurberg VXR??? Would make far more sense.

I wouldn't spend any more money doing it up! You've limited your market for selling it on already, further engine work will only limit your market even more.

Good power figures, but can't bring myself to look at these! And they're massive too!

What do you think of the interior quality?

Check the front seat on the side where it meets the airbag housing. Most Corsa's I've seen, the seat has split here. Vauxhall didn't want to know with a warranty claim, when a car was a year old and covered 7,000 miles. Also, steering wheel material started going. They said it was 'fair wear and tear'

Yep under the bonnet it's exactly the same as a VXR so their quite tunable. Nurberg VXR would be nice....but I think they're still more than 10K, plus the 5 door helps with having two kids.

Well nothings rattling inside yet! The top of the steering wheel has started to go though....only 40000 miles in! Not checked the seat but never noticed anything - I'll have a look before I head home tonight.

With 200+ bhp it's quite a sleeper, looks like an average shopping hatch but must go fairly well. I wouldn't spend another £4000 on upgrading it, just save it for the next car.

Bet that's actually quite fun to drive and presumably fairly nippy. Not a fan of the grill covers or the rear spoiler really (would leave them off for more sleeper points if it were mine).

Nice car though and practical(ish) with 4 doors and decent mpg smile

Does anyone think that spoiler looks a bit awkward? In the first picture it just doesn't look right.

Apart from that, I really like it!

Quite a sleeper.

Is the engine really exactly the same as VXR spec? IE cams, injectors, turbo etc etc? Just the change in ECU map?

I've done 22k in mine from new and neither of those things have happened to me.

Guess I'm lucky.

Sorry - too many doors, I think it ruins the lines, the 3drs look much better.

But each to their own...... Enjoy it OP

One of the few cars to break this rule!

Three door looks dumpy and has a fat arse...

I'd be interested to know the answer to this.

On another note, I think it looks like a hoot! I'd of never guessed this was a fast car from looking at it!

I'd agree with others though, don't spend 4k on it, you'll never get any of that money back when you sell it and it actually may make the car hard to sell, well thats unless you love the car? I've spent nearly 3k maintenance on my Impreza RB5 that is worth no more than 4k but I do love my car and have no plans to sell it!

Thanks for the comments guys!

Yep the engine is EXACTLY the same apart from the exhaust back box that has the tail pipe in the middle for the VXR. The engine in the SRI got replaced by a 1.4 at the end of 2008 and I'm still to see another with the 1.6 in it.

The spoiler is a bit marmite but I like it..

And as for spending the money on it - well I know i'll never get it back but then you never do with mods to cars like this really. I'll probably just enjoy it as it is though. Oh and the side of the seat is fine!

What is your disability?

Poor eyesight?

(sorry that was too easy...and possibly too harsh)

Well I want one then, with steels, buggered bodywork and a 'life' badge or two.

Apologies
That should have been in a completely different thread!
No idea how that happened!!!
