New BMW motor 2009 320d m sport, from a 2001 e46 330ci
Discussion
Iv finally grown up and bought a 4dr diesel BMW. I didnt really want to go down this route but due to high mileage it was necessary. Also coming from an E46 330CI i thought the diesel would be boring and souless in comparison.I was wrong. Popped down barons and saw a black 4dr 320d m sport 2009 , with BMW performance wheels and bodykit+CF spoiler, which looked very nice. After a test drive i was surprised at the pace of the thing, although a lot quieter than the 6 cylinder petrol , it was fast enough and handled well, i also liked the heavier steering feel.
The electric seat bolsters are also very cool. I have only had the car a short time, and will report on any issues. Are these cars safe to remap and does anyone know the best/reliable one to go for, as this car has to last me. The only negative i can find at the moment is the indicators, they dont seem to stay on as long as my E46.

I'm in a 330Ci Convertible at the moment and if all goes to plan over the next week or so I will be needing something that shows more than 22mpg... my dear old mother has a 320d M Sport Coupe (12 plate so one of the last before the new shape) and the turn of pace on it is rather unexpected. I think it's because it's so accessible. To accelerate as quickly in the 330 you need to put the boot down, with it comes the noise etc so you feel like you're giving it some stick.
In the diesel, middle of the rev range, it picks up brilliantly. In all fairness it's all the car you could need but having said that I'll probably go looking for something like this...

Probably end up with convertible or touring I imagine.
Nice looking car anyway OP, enjoy in good health!

My mum has one of these, really nice cars
yours looks really cool as a daily bud! I was surprised how fast it was when I first drove it, the traction control will piss you off in the snow though!
that's why you turn it off?

Please tell me how?? Normally on BMW's in my experience you hold down the button for 10 seconds and it will disable it until you either turn it back on or turn the car off (at which point it turns on again automatically when you restart the car) both e90 320d's I have driven say its turned off but then as soon as you get the arse out it cuts back in again??
that's exactly how?press the DTC buttn and it goes to DTC mode, hold the button and you get the warning triangle of doom and can drive it in the snow(ish) unless you now can't kill it entirely? mine's an 07 plate
It's definitely the same as the e46 hold it down for some time and it turns all the aids off, tried it this morning and worked
Was looking at BMW website and they do an engine performance pack for the 320d, tune, 650w fan and oil cooler, but it's very expensive . Does anyone know the part numbers for these ? As might be a good idea to get them if I get her tuned from somewhere else like evolve etc
Thanks

I'd imagine the evolve to be more bang for your buck, but I don't know what the BMW warranty would & wouldn't cover if you got this? Was looking at BMW website and they do an engine performance pack for the 320d, tune, 650w fan and oil cooler, but it's very expensive .
