3 months away from driving, but yesterday was the day i picked up my first car, i had looked at mk1 fiestas, vivas, minis all around 2k but i came across what to me is a gem and picked it up for £725 it has done 80k and has a few visual mods, wheels, grill, trim is carbon wrapped, led lights and well im quite happy with it. i will change the interior to half leathers at some point. Please excuse the wingmirrors the had red carbon wrapp on them but had faded so im in the process of taking it off.
it a rover 211 SE and was the ony one i could find on the internet, are they rare?

They are indeed rare, very rare. Mostly 214's & 216's.

Great choice for a first car, enjoy. I had a 25 and then ZR, they get some stick but at the time they were much better cars than what my mates were driving round in.

Damn rare - I looked for one for my first car and couldn't find one.

They're great looking cars but I see yours has had a run in with a tin of red plasti-kote. Will look a thousand times better with both grilles painted black IMO.

Definitely agree with this smile

I love this shape, not sure why, but I think they look a lot fresher than their contemporaries.

This. I would have loved something as comfortable and 'nice' as a first car. Fret not OP, any car is a cracker when it is your first car, and yours is a nice one. Good luck, be safe.

Nice wheels op. My little brother had the MG one as a first car. I like them.

haha ill take a proper pic of the wingmirrors tomorrow, basically all the black bits have carbon fibre wrapp on it and the mirrors had red carbon wrap on it, it would have looked good if the sun had not faded them, i took the carbon wrapp off and that is glue i think looks half decent (snakskin effect haha) but i do not know how to get it off, what do you suggest new mirrors?

I thought it looked like some sort of Emo design going on! smile

They're only covers and easily replaced.
Think basic economics. You sand and spray it's gonna cost you a tenner. If you replace with red or black ones from ebay, a tenner. Scrap yard, maybe a fiver..... don't know mate.

Furry ears would look cool....

I think the 1.1 k series lump is most probably a better engine than the bigger k series lumps as I think they are less prone to the dreaded head gasket failure.
Also cheaper on the insurance I think your on a winner for a first car.

I have a 200 as well. Use the insurance-comparer-thing on the Auto Trader website. Don't know why, but it always turns out to be the cheapest for me.

Paid £2300 for my first year back in December, when the NCB comes in I'm hoping to replace the car with something a bit quicker (the 1.4 16v is pretty good, never gonna set the world on fire though).

Have fun with the car, they'll take all the abuse a new driver can (and will wink) throw at it. I advise the ZR/25/200 section of mg-rover.org, it's very helpful.

You will only ever look back on this car with fond memories and I have no doubt in a few years you won't see these on the roads at all.

Enjoy the freedom of a good car OP!
