Integra DC2

Here's a few pictures of my Integra after its first clean this year I think.

Had it a few years now, cant have done more than 10k miles, haven't used it half as much as I would like to.
It's mostly used late at night or on dry weekends, its almost purely driven for fun, although I am yet to take it to a track.

In my ownership it's had a gearbox rebuild (new synchros and bearings), engine mounts, suspension bushes, new drive shafts, new pads, discs and Tyres, shifter bushes, a thermostat and a complete JDM exhaust. It's cost alot more to maintain than I expected, but I guess there getting old now.

It's a bit of a love hate relationship. Can't say I recommend them to everyone, but on the right piece of road at the right time it really can be incredible.

Think it will stay for a few more years and then make way for an E46 M3 or similar.

Looks very tidy! A good friend of mine has an identical car I've spent a fair bit of time in/driving and I still think it's right up there in terms of balance between ride/handling/power. Such a lovely package and always an occasion to drive.

Love it. Any rust issues? That's the only thing that might put me off having another.

Thanks and yes, drivers side rear arch lip is starting to bubble, no more than a 5p sized bit near a screw hole.

I have taken the interior out and had a look at the inner arches and there's some surface rust but nothing major. Got a quote from a local body-shop recently for £500 to sort it all out, Seems a good deal so will get that sorted in a few weeks.
Considering the car has been SORN'd nearly every winter of its life I am surprised.

I think rust is probably the biggest issue with these cars now, even the supposedly rust free imports are going to need attention after a few years on our roads. I have read a few posts on the owners club where people have had the rust treated and in a year or two it's back again.

Totally worth it though, in my opinion of course.

I had a 2000 Rx which had only been in the country a couple of years before I bought it, and even that had juuuust started to go on the very corner of the o/s/r arch. Shame really, I'd quite like a nice UKDM model one day.

A clean JDM is probably a better buy, the extra insurance costs put me off though, although I doubt I saved anything in the long run.

Would love another DC5 to be honest, but I don't like the idea of buying the same car twice.

Number 1! Mine is 4622, was number 1 on the original press fleet or was it sold straight to a customer?

May I suggest you speak to TGM in Fleet about repairing your arch?. They have plenty of experience and should be a higher standard of repair..

Have used TGM for almost everything on this car and my previous DC5. It's a 2 hour drive for me but has been well worth it and I don't doubt they would do an excellent job, plus Tom has helped me out a great deal this year.

Its not too late for me to book it with TGM and I may well do that, in-fact typing this reply has pretty much convinced me.

Yeah, it's a shame there aren't more places that offer the same service.
I had an alternator belt changed at a local garage recently and the guy forgot to put the bolts back in the engine mount.
First time in a while I have used a regular garage and probably the last.

I really enjoyed my DC5 too - not as raw as the DC2 and therefore a bit more user friendly day-to-day. Still a great drive, just not quite up there with the DC2. The '5 looks fantastic though in Champ White.
