My first car - Seat arosa tdi

well this was my arosa tdi when i first went and picked it up




the spec list from the ad is as follows:
Bodywork - Totally repainted in factory colour & bodywork smoothed inc rear bootlock removed, 3rd brakelight removed, swagelines removed, side repeaters removed, passenger doorlock removed, bumpers totally smoothed. Cambridge (smoked) rear GTI lights fitted, opening rear quarter lights fitted (original fixed included if required), rear wiper removed (will be included), aero wiper arms & blades fitted to front. Bonrath debadged grill fitted (also have set of one-off custom grilles to be included).

Interior - Lupo GTI Heated Leather interior (not wired in), airbag removed & leather steering wheel fitted (original included), Golf GTI leather gearknob & gaitor, silver trim kit, lower dash & centre console colour coded to body, TT/GTI alloy pedals. Interior sound deadened with 5 layers of dynamat extreme in the front doors & rear quarters, 3 layers in bootlid, floor also deadened using matting & luxury underlay.

Engine - Remapped to approx 116bhp - 176lb/ft torque, with full handbuilt stainless longlife exhaust system, BMC induction filter. Cambelt, tensioners & associated parts replaced at 70k, also replaced the water pump as all the belts were off (wasn't required though). Oil & filter changed at 68k, Engine cover body colur coded.

Suspension - Recently overhauled at 68k replacing front top mounts, lower ball joints, lower wishbones, steering arms & steering joints. KW Variant 2 coilover adjustable rear shocks & spring fitted (will include a set of FK spring & mounts), FK silverline coilovers fitted to front (for winter use) & KW2 variant 2 coilovers included for the summer (too good to ruin with the crap british winter).

Brakes - Fully overhauled at 70K with new compensator valve, total system flush, rear shoes & new front pads fitted. Fronts discs fitted at 65k are drilled, grooved & vented.

Stereo: Sony head unit, standard speakers will be put back in.

Wheels: Artec PA repainted in super chrome (not actually chrome)

i then got hold of some carbon wrap and let my friend loose in the interior





it then just sat the same for a while



i then went and sold the wheels and got some rare enkei fortibles(which are currently for sale)



i was really happy with the car, then on the way back from a day trip from alton towers, just outside the jcb factory some chronic understeer caused this to happen


i cracked my sump, cracked the gearbox casing, cracked my subframe, bent a wishbone and destroyed my smooth bumper. i also bent a friends steel wheel.



it then sat like this for about 3 months whilst i gathered the funds


then parts tarted to come in



then it was back

my rear coilover adjusters had seized so whilst they was out i popped the springs in and wound down the fronts and went for a drive with a friends dslr, them photos can be found here

Shame about the accident but I'd counter it was probably chronic understeer caused by entering the corner far too quickly!

I know that roundabout and may have looked out of the side window many times going around it

i wish it was something as spectacular as that, would make me feel slightly better if i had attempted a 100mph roundabout crash but unfortunately it was a modest 30mph chronic under steer to a curb

well long term plans are get the bumper re smoothed and resprayed so the colour matches the rest of the car, and possibly air suspension

yeah thankfully, would of been a much more different story smacking that at 30 mph

For that understeer id recommend a rear ARB (Fabia Vrs ones fit from what i remember) and possibly a smidge less entry speed

Loved my Lupo GTi, definitely want another once i have space for a 2nd car. Didnt have much understeer on mine, more likely for the back end to step out! Found my lupo to be sensitive to tyres, hated toyo proxes it came with, was miles better on the Goodyear Eagle F1s.

i run some hankooks unsure what model, they are the only company along with kumho to do 175/50 15, may go down to 165/50 so i have a wider range of brands to choose from, had a puncture and just spent £60 on a tyre when i could get bridgestone potenzas in 165/50 for £50 fitted

sorted out my poker chip that was falling off and replaced it with a red one, also got some new stickers
