Focus RS - 2596

Morning Chaps,

I thought I would take a little bit of time out this morning to put together a post on here concerning my (new to me) Ford Focus RS - Build No: 2596.

I collected the car last Thursday from a very enthusiastic owner who was quite happy to confess that he cleaned the car more than he drove it. The car has had three owners from new and apparently the first owner was a Managing Director of Ford Motor Company who kept it for 7.5 Years.

The car is one of the later spec cars and which includes:
- Stitched Sparco Seats
- Pink Throttle Trumpet
- Engine Start Sticker
- Later AF Engine Map

It took me a while to find a totally unmolested example which I wasn't willing to negotiations on, no dump vales, no after market exhausts. I wanted one which looked like it just rolled out of the factory door, it has covered a fraction under 37,000 miles with full service history. It really is a keeper and in my opinion a really modern classic.

Thanks for the comments so far, it really is an impressive piece of equipment. I've owned one before about 7 years ago but ended up selling it quite quickly as I was saving for a deposit for my property and I didn't really get to know the car properly.

In the limited time behind the wheel the most impressive comment I can make is that the steering has so much feel, I have owned three EP3 Civic Type-R's and that was always my underlying gripe.

Find a nice dry B Road with lots of twisty corners and it just obliterates the road, with very minimal fuss apart from a bit of torque steer. The "Torque Biasing" diff really works well with getting the nose tucked in to tight bends and allows you to exploit the cars power much earlier than you would imagine from a FWD car on the exit. It really is huge fun.........

Fantastic stuff Plus Clayton on the RSOC will be happy as it's a standard one (so long as it stays that way )

I have spoken to Clayton a few times, he is a smashing bloke who knows everything there is to know about the MK1 Focus RS.

I love the way he would class your car as modded if you stuck an RS badge on your grill as the MK1 didn't leave the factory that way....

If I were to do anything it would be a Bluefin remap and a Miltek Sport's CAT, aside from that it stays as it is.

Brilliant I'm pleased that all you guys approve, it gives me a lot of pleasure knowing so. It is strange when you buy a MK1 Focus RS you are also kind of buying into the project as a whole, it was barmy.

There are so many stories which I have found out about through reading nearly ever article the car has ever been featured in and I doubt there will ever be another Hot Hatch where a manufacture loses close to £4,000 per car that was ever sold.

As soon as the sun shines I will do my best to get a few more pictures,

Love it; such a beautiful car. I like them but they hold their value very well (that's a good thing though).

Nice FRS there Fella. Bluefin, Miltek Exh/Sport Cat and a K&N panel filter is the way I went with my old one, made it a lot better to drive in my opinion. Sold mine (3086) back in Aug 2008 with a measly 11,000mls on the clock. Been looking at these alot again recently and looking at examples like yours is making me want one again. Good luck with yours...

Similar with me...this made a short list of 3 recently...but the amount of miles I do meant it would be cruel...(plus the interior had me itching my teeth) meaning the Focus RS, in that kind of condition, will be one the few cars I could've had, really wanted, but will never own
Really enjoy seeing them on the road though....easily the best looking Focus made...and for me up there with the best looking Ford ever made...

Lovely car I've been in mine (2379)for nigh on 7 years now I've done @ 80k taking it to over 100k its over 300bhp & I love it, the biggest issue I have is its ruined any other car I have tried to replace it with!
