HELP! endura -- 1600 zetec
Discussion
Hi guys, although i have done a fair few mods in my time ive never done an engine transplant before and i was wondering if you guys can help me
i have a mk1 ford ka3 with a 1300 endura engine in it, its a pile of s**t frankly, although ive managed to extract 79hp out of it frankly im ready to give up the ghost and trade for a better heart
the things im worried about however are the engine mounts and control moduals my car currently has an analog dash no abs, no tach, a real ghetto piece compared to most
an info on the subject would be a great help, its also the only car i have access to and i dont have a driveway, so if anyone can help me in that respect also it would be greatly helpful

Don't be confusing the 1600 zetec with the 1600 sigma as used in caterhams.
The 1.7 in the puma is of the same engine design as the 1.6 sigma, inlet front/exhaust rear. The zetec engines are the inverse.
ETA
You'll basically need an entire donor car to complete the job, as you'll need the ecu and wiring loom on top of the engine. It'll be cheaper to buy a mot failure or crashed example and do the transfer that way.
It must be asked though, is it really worth it? It would be cheaper (insurance especially) to just buy another car!

OP I was in a similar situation having had a 1.3 mk5 fiesta; pretty much everything is different, to the extent that there is no real reason to stick with the Zetec SE range; with the amount of work it takes to swap in a 1.6 or a 1.7 Zetec SE in place of an Endura E you may as well swap in something more powerful like a 150 duratec. Either put big money and effort into it or upgrade to a 1.25 mk5 fiesta like I did; a 1.6 or a 1.7 (much recommended) is then a straight swap with only the LH engine mount needing to be changed.
RE the electrics, post '99 fiestas/pumas had digital dashes, pre '99 had analouge.

This, plainly. The easiest engine swap would probably be the 1.6 engine found in the SportKa; it's the same general engine design with a new head IIRC, and since it's a standard Ka engine bay the parts should be available to fit it without too much modifying. However at the end of all that effort and expense (which will have included buying a SportKa to get the engine), you'll still have a sub two litre FWD small hatchback. So make any engine swap worthwhile.
The moral of this story is therefore: Go big, or go home.

It was difficult to find a decent picture of this project, and I couldn't find any picture that showed the twin turbos...
