So last year my Mrs had a Lupo GTI but really wanted a MK3 Golf GTI, so we swapped her Lupo for a 5 door GTI Anniversary.

It was proper tidy when we got it, sitting really low on Modernlines and with a custom tartan roof lining.

She wanted to put her own stamp on it so thought of selling the Modernlines and over winter get some splits built up for it, so into winter mode it went:

A couple of weeks after this someone reversed into it, bent the front wing in til it touched the wheel.
We went through a claims company so it never went to our insurance, they were great and gave us a MK6 TDI for a month, but when the assessor came out he said it was a write off.

Not to worry though, they let us keep the car and gave us a pay out of nearly £1500!

So with that we bought the Mrs another GTI Anni, a red 3 door and I said I would have the black one (I was smoking around in a MK3 TDI at the time).

It cost me £18 to put it right, got a wing for free and just rattle canned it.

So I was happy to have a GTI again but completely lost interest in modding it, we sold the BBS splits we had for it along with a genuine US tailgate, proper lost all love for it cry

Then in July we went to CumbriaVAG and it got me back in the mood, so that day when we got home the mrs washed it (hadn't been cleaned for 7 months!) and I got the old C spanner out and lowered it

Then I decided sod it, its a worthless old Golf so Im going to have some fun with it.

So I went to see a mate who had some wheels for sale, picked them up, and then ordered some paint for the car.

Had a few days off this week so we have done some work on it, tyres have arrived and the wheels will be refurbed this week and on the car next week.

Cant wait to have it finished, some people are gonna hate it but its just a Golf that stands me at £18, if I mess it up then I will just do it again!

The bonnet had been wrapped black, we ripped it off and its dark red underneath, Im not going rat style!!

Well, as we had established, this car was pretty worthless. So why not have some fun with it??

Isn't modifying cars all about fun??

Having said that, I always wanted some Venoms.

Don't know why, in the 2000's people were actually weighing them in as they were worthless.

Perfect for my car then.

A friend had a set in 5x100 (quite rare now) sat in his garage so I bought them and refurbed them in baby blue.....

And on they went

And thats how it sits up to now.

I could really do with lowering the front a touch more but I will probably throw my winter wheels back on soon...

To be honest I think it looked better when you bought it, loved how it was sitting.

Reminds me a bit too much of that mk3 with players written in the bonnet. Not feeling the red and blue personally but as long as you're having fun, go nuts! smile

Yes it does look a bit similar I guess, although Carl's was done to a much higher standard!

His looked best when it was all green with the Avez A's on IMO.

Black one looked nice other than that shocking "stance and stretch".

The red one looked lovely too when you had just bought it.

Looked better when you got it, though the "stretched out rims" and the "stance" that made it it look like a loaded skip had been dropped on it's roof was not so cool.
