I won a Frontera on eBay - The Journey Begins..............

Well there I was last Saturday night, having a few drinks with the boys, thinking about what to do this winter, when my fingers slip over the eBay app on my new phone. Hmmm, wonder whats on here ending shortly.
A few beers late, it appears I win a nice Vauxhall Frontera (erm, scrap that nice) for the pricely sum of £370, then I check where it is, ahhh, only 103 miles away. Eeek.

Fast forward a week, after speaking to the seller in the week, Im heading off to pick it up this evening. Leaving work at five, a very kind friend in the trade, Lawrence Warner Specialist Cars (
) agrees to lend me his transit flatbed to go and collect it. Many thanks! Quality gent, and has some rather interesting stock most of the year! Worth a browse certainly!
So, Im here at work, thinking of the logisitcs of a fun journey heading up there this evening. Leaving here at 5, go to pick truck up, so I reckon at half 8 turnup at the sellers house. To view a car ive never heard run, seen, or even checked, this for me, is madness, but oh well!
Ill try and keep updated through today, and the build of a little winter muddy toy!

Still, if it's tested till next June as long as it runs ok you can't go wrong for a bargain shed to get you through winter in case of snow. Always liked the look of these three door fronteras for some reason.

Oh yes, drink is terrible!
Well, so unfortunatly due to the fact that the owner lived in the middle ages still, there was no 3g connection to update this last night. So, ill update a little this morning....
Left work at 6pm, once again, massive thanks to Laurie Warner and his truck, and headed for Chard in Somerset. I believe my SatNav decided that I wasnt driving a transit, but infact a tiny little go-kart, so took me down some extremely interesting lanes, which were, NARROW to say the least. I foled the mirrors in on one lane and did 10mph, not fun. But ahh well
Moving on... arrived at the sellers house, and found it sitting outside, not started for days, which is how I had hoped. Started on the key, oil pressure straight up, ok, this is good. Looking round, as described, detatchable towbar (result) and I was happy. He then wheels down 4 extra steel wheels with mud tyres. Thrown in free, Oh happy days!!
Loaded it onto the truck, and off I headed;
Stopped for some jungle juice - bit better light
The girls were a little cold, I like driving with the window open!
11pm stop for dinner
...got home. Fell asleep! Woke this morning, and gave it a quick clean, to see what Im really dealing with!
So happy boy! Drawn up a list of bits to do;
Get drivers window working, rail is dodgy
Sort rear door seal so it doesnt leak
Secure front bullbars
Fit rocksliders
Top up with oil
The oil pressure gauge seems to drop on tickover, but as soon as you throttle it, builds back up. Not sure on the cause, any help would be appreciated, ill start working on it tomorrow

These get a bad press but my mate had an L-reg LWB (although it was a diesel) which took enough abuse to last a good few lifetimes. Insurance is bloody cheap too, came in at the same price as superminis. Would have had it if I hadn't seen how it had been driven
I think ill leave trooper axles (I believe?) until something brakes, dont fix what isnt broken!!
Ive been out for a drive tonight, the heater doesnt work, fans, but no heat. So thats tomorrows mission. Ahh well.
And working out how to take the roof off, as that will be more fun
