There is a long story behind actually trying to drive and insure a fire engine, basically what we did was convert it into a motorhome, the dvla has a criteria what they require for something to be a motorhome.

We installed a bed, a tv, hot and cold water and a toilet, took it to the dvla, and got it converted to a motorhome :-) we then ripped it all back out and installed seats, leopard print everywhere, made all the levers dildos and installed a huge sound install, everything still worked include the ladders, hoses, sirens etc

Did you know that emergency vehicles don't have to pay use toll roads in this country or France, they just opened the barriers and let us through! Haha video proof

The costs were not that bad, I bought the fire engine from a person who completely overhauled everything, for his smoke alarm business, it was 100%perfect, I paid £3000 for it, picking it up in a scania v8 lowloader from Norwich, 360miles from me was not cheap though,

I spent about £1000 converting it into pussy rescue, and then over the next 6days I put around 2500litres of fuel in it driving around Europe, it had a tiny tank 100litres......

Sold for £4000 when I got home, mainly to cover the awful fuel bill! My biggest ever regret was selling it,

Priceless fun though!!

Didn't the french toll operators wonder what on earth a UK fire engine was doing there?
(or was it a case of just stick on blues & 2s and blast past the tolls?! hehe )
