Some of my not so sheddy buys over the past few years

I have been a member on here for as long as i can remember, however i only started using the forum around 2.5 years ago, how i never used it beforehand beats me as it is without doubt the best motoring forum available,
Anyway, as i have some free time this afternoon i thought i would write up a history of some of the cars i have owned since 2004 (when i first got internet)
2004-2007 Golf VR6
This was my second one, i had sold my previous one to my friend, originally looking to upgrade to a mk4 Golf however it never quite worked out and i ended up with this, i ended up supercharging it and fitting a mk4 cabriolet front to it, the latter is something i strongly regret
How it all ended up
2007-2007, Mk4 Golf R32
I had wanted to own one of these since they were announced in 2002, a spur of the moment decision ended up with this, however it was so disappointing initially, not particularly quick after the mk3, i fitted a milltek exhaust, revo software and a carbonio cold air feed, which improved things greatly. I sold it to raise money for the deposit on my first flat
2007-2008 Mk4 Golf Anniversary TDI
My first foray into Diesel ownership, i bought this off my best friend who had owned it for 3 years iirc, i spent a fortune on it, all because i couldn't get the OEM Ball burnished wheels refinished in a finish i was happy with, this led to things going crazy, looking back i was VERY foolish, however i still like the look of the car, i sold it to a good friends brother who still owns it, and it still looks the same as it did when i sold it. The wheels it ended up are real, not replicas
How it ended up
I sold the Anniversary to finish off refurbishing my flat, so i used my Transit van and the OHs Mini Cooper S JCW,
Only decent picture i have of the Mini, i regret parting with this car nearly everyday, it brought a smile to my face every time i drove it. I fitted KW Springs and 10mm Eibach spacers all round to it, however i can't find any pictures of the car with them fitted
2008-2009 BMW E46 M3
My first venture into BMW ownership, and what a way to do it, awesome car, however it wasn't without its niggles. I spent a small fortune on this too, and i ruined it as a daily road car if I'm being honest, Clare hated driving it towards the end, due to my "improvements"
How it started
After some choice bits, Intrax Coilovers, Genuine CSL Wheels, Supersprint Lightweight race exhaust, it ended up like this
2009-2010 BMW E91 335d M Sport
After parting with the M3 for a disastrous experience with an Audi A3, we got our money back and i bought this, first automatic car, i had never driven one prior to buying this, and ultimately i loved this car, the need for an estate was two cocker spaniel pups. I remapped it not long after getting it, fired the darkling rear lenses and that was it, it was sold purely as i never drove it and Clare wanted something a little smaller, and economical
2010-2011 VW Transporter T5 130
This was the reason i never drove the 335d, i used this for work, and various jobs with a car trailer i had, quite simply this has been my best automotive purchase ever, i loved this van, it never put a foot wrong in 40,000 hard miles and i wish i had kept it, however i sold it to release money when we bought our house. A decision i regret deeply as ultimately we managed fine without the money. I have tried to replace this van several times, unsuccessfully
2010-2010 BMW E81 118d M Sport
Ultimately this was Clare's car, however we both used it, bought from local dealer as the 335d wasn't being used enough by me, and she liked these. Cracking car to drive, it cost peanuts to run, a little under powered however. Selling the 335d when we did and buying this was a decision i came to regret, within a month of owning this we found out we were going to be parents, and the 3 door 118d wasn't really suitable, had it been 5 door i suspect we might still have it, i done absolutely nothing to this car

Replacement for the 118d, i had moved into a lower paying job and decided to scale down the car whilst Clare was on maternity leave, bought for a steal from the local BMW dealer as a trade in, i fitted new wings, leather interior and the 18" genuine R32 wheels, it was a great car and suited our requirements perfectly until Clare went back to work.
2011-2012 BMW E91 335d M Sport
After Clare going back to work we decided to get another new(ish) car, she wanted an A3 and it fell on deaf ears, i wasn't finished with 335ds, much to her disgust. However she soon came round, i got this as a trade car from the local BMW dealer, in a poor state, marks on many panels, but it was cheap and had an ideal spec, a deal was done quickly, the car bought unseen. Risky but worthwhile in this instance. It was sold to a close friend, after he made an offer on it i couldn't say no to
After the body repairs were carried out i fitted some 19" CSLs, i was never 100% sure on the looks tbh
I then refitted the standard 18s with winter tyres, the CSLs were never refitted as i preferred it looking standard
2012-2012 BMW E53 X5 3.0d Sport Exclusive
After agreeing to sell the 335d Clare decided she wanted a 4x4, however our budget wouldn't allow a new model X5, this one was purchased with some doubts, however these were short lived and i grew to love this car. As i is with life, things change and Clare was offered a job abroad, that we would all be relocating for 6 weeks at a time, i felt the X5 sitting on the drive with its £475 PA road tax was a waste, so we sold it, again to a friend.
2012-Present VW Golf GT TDi 150bhp
This takes us up to the present day, after our X5 was sold on we needed something that was cheap, yet still reliable, and not look like a total shed. I looked for various E46s, unsuccessfully and ended up with this. Rare colour, great spec and most of all it does everything we need it to whilst not costing a fortune. Once we are home permanently, i can't see me parting with this car
I hope i haven't bored anyone too much, if i have time before my son wakes up i will do a similar thread with the sheds i have ran alongside my decent cars

I particularly like how the M3 ended up, from an aesthetics point of view.

Thanks , its taken a while to get this far, and I'm back at a mk4 Golf, looking at the thread i wonder how its all gone so wrong
I think another M3 is required sooner rather than later
Thank you for the kind words with regards to the M3 and the 335ds, they are cars that i miss dearly at the moment
The M3 looked awesome, and truth be told drove even better, it was very well set up, however after a burst coil over and the balljoints collapsing a decision was made to get rid of it as a standard car, all the goodies were removed and believe it or not was sold as an AUC at the local dealer, last i seen, it was at a dealer that specialises in these and high end stuff around Reading IIRC, Wooden premises spring to mind. SV54HLK was the original plate if anyone knows its whereabouts now
The 335ds were terrific, i loved them, they done everything without a fuss and returned fantastic MPG for the performance, its one of those cars i will own again in the future

I sort of expected the M3 to get a good response on here, I never got to fit the AP Brakes I had for it sadly. That would have made it complete, as the brakes were poor when worked hard.
I am indeed a German car fan, I have tried other brands, with varying levels of success, however my roots are firmly with the Germans
The CSLs for me at the time, were a good move, however looking back I should have just refurbished the standard wheels as I felt the car looked better on those. On the M3 however those genuine CSLs looked the business I won't deny that

Thanks guys, i had some time to kill and i had been meaning to do a history for a while.
In my earlier years, i bought whichever car i liked and could afford, however since the M3 each car has been bought to fulfil a purpose within our lifestyle, and as circumstances allow, unfortunately i have always pushed our budget to the max with every purchase,with exception of the X5 and our current Golf.
The Transporter was great, the colour admittedly isn't the best, but after searching for what felt like months for a suitable specced van in silver or white, it popped up locally with a better spec than i wanted. I could have carried on looking for months as my budget wasn't great, so i took the plunge and actually grew to like the colour.
