Hi,

Was in the pub the other night with a mate of mine who is also a car saleman and got chatting about how I wanted a second car. Just so happened that the previous day he had bought a MX-5 which was sounded perfect other than two things:
- I'm 6ft 3 and not exactly slender
- But more annoyingly, it was an Auto.

Initially I dismissed the idea until he said i could have it at cost, £700 and it comes with test till June and tax till Sept.

Anyhow, I left the pub with the thought playing on my mind, mainly thinking not sure I want an Auto and although its only done 73000km (45k ish) and got all the history for the past 5 years I wasn't sure about buying it without sitting in it. The only other bonus was that it was previously owned by another mate who comes in the pub who I know looks after all his cars well and everytime it needed anything it was done.

So the next morning I text my mate telling him i'd have it.

Anyhow, heres the car:

Its a J reg Eunos V-Spec 1.6 Auto

Loving the car so far, its got a couple of issues which I want to sort but nothing major. When its cold it wont idle properly so need to look into that and the rear window has a crack in it which ive taped up, however I did get some nice little surprises, its just had a new exhaust, its got a strut brace fitted, opened the boot to find a full car cover. Also, looked at the tyres to find that they are a full set of winters with good tread so the plan is to buy some nicer alloys for it and then keep these for winter. The other bonus was that because I knew the previous owner I managed to get a tonneau cover and wind deflector for £30.

Had a really good drive out on Sunday whilst the sun shone!!

Just needs a PH smiley!!

Very nice, complete bargain!

How do you find it being a large chap?

Lovely looking NA. Does it have the speakers in the headrests?

Room wise it's fairly tight in the but not too bad, its certainly not uncomfortable., I think if it was a manual I'd be wanting to put some bucket seats in it as im not sure there would be enough room for me to operate the clutch, although I do have a 37 inch inside leg.

And it does have the speakers in the headrest, really are quite good when driving with the roof down!

Report back if you could please on how you find the auto? (And the MPG). I miss having my mk1, and would love one as a second car, but the missus can only drive an Auto, so if the Auto mk1s are any good, I'll be after one wink
