The Deathfield
Discussion
Ive been meaning to start this thread for the last six months but never got round to it! I've always wanted a Caterfield but circumstances have never been right becuase I've never had a garage.
Back in June I took the plunge and swapped my Turbo'd MX5 (Thread here) for a boring daily driver and the Westfield.
I test drove a few Westfields, a pinto, a k series and a couple of zetecs but after the MX5 nothing really felt "blow your socks off" quick. I had to get a Duratec engine but my budget couldn't quite stretch far enough.
Luckily, a Westfield came up at near enough the right price so back in July, this is pretty much how it was, and the deathfield moniker was born. (Ex GF was convinced it was going to kill me)

and at the GM PHSS

Its a fairly mild tuned 2.0 Duratec with GSXR throttle bodies, uprated injectors and Microsquirt. RR'd at 182bhp and weighing 550-600kg its certainly quick enough for now..
The exhaust was ridiculously loud, I had no chance of getting anywhere near a track so I managed to pick up a second hand larger can for a bargain price.

It dropped the noise down to a more track friendly level.
I added some wind deflectors to try and make it a bit more comfortable...

Then had a change of heart, went completely the other way and swapped it all for an aeroscreen. The aeroscreen is ace and has removed a lot of the "barn door" effect you tend to get with these at high speed.

Also removed the Westfield sticker from the nosecone, went with a slightly smaller front plate and fitted some LED rear lights and a high level 3rd brake light on the roll bar.
Next I picked up a set of Team Dynamics Pro Race 1.2 in Black which I always thought would look better and are much lighter. Wider offset than the original silver rims, so they sit much better in the rear arches.
Took it to Northampton Motorsport for a full geometry alignment. It came back driving like a different car now all the wheels point in the right direction!
Lots of this before Sunday Service last weekend:

Getting the 595 RSRs on the wheels and the wheels on the car, fluid change to Motul RBF600 and Ferodo DS2500s all round. Even managed to fit my carbon rear arch guards that finally arrived from the factory after a 3 month wait.
Silverstone PHSS was its first proper outing on track. I did 2 sessions and it performed brilliantly. Testament to the car rather than the driver, it was properly quick.

So thats the deathfield as it stands now.
I promised myself 2013 was going to be "Year of the track day" so Silverstone GP circuit is booked for March and possibly a trip to the 'ring in May...
Let the fun begin!
