My Porsche 997 C2S

I've been a frequent visitor to the forum but not yet posted, so I thought I would introduce myself and my current car.
I have always been a Porsche fan but only recently had the means and the opportunity to own one. Before I took the plunge 3 years ago, I had been a long time Saab fan, having owned a series of 900 and then 9-3 turbo and Aero models, for me the closest thing to a Porsche 911, at least if you squint and ignore the iffy handling.
I had started out wanting a 993, then the 996 came and went, and finally I started looking properly and decided the 997 was the way to go. I wanted a coupe as I love the classic shape, and 2 wheel drive as I wanted the lower weight, and the Sport as I wanted the power. Silver was my first choice, and I wanted the Sport Chrono pack, with the switchable Sport mode and PASM suspension, as well as the dash mounted timer.
In 2009 I took the plunge, after finding a mint example at Cridfords in Surrey. The car had 35,000 miles and also the extended Porsche warranty still in place - a couple of weeks later and it was on my driveway.
The car had a bit of a shaky start, with failing coil packs meaning the car was in the garage several times before they tracked the problem to failed oxygen sensors, which when replaced eventually fixed the problem. This was all done under the Porsche warranty, and I have extended it every year since.
The handling is best I have ever experienced in a car, and the engine is epic.
Having had the car for 4 years it still looks and runs like new, and will be keeping it until I come into some money or the 991 comes down in price to a level I can afford - so a few years yet.

Yes, when I'm not working in town it's my regular drive. Probably 3 days a week and every weather, except bad snow where it is absolutely terrifying!
Weekends don't get much use as I have 4 kids and we use the wife's 7 seat Disco.

Yes, Brentwood it is! Small world. I'm further down the hill just past the turning for Kavanaghs Road. if its anything like mine, should be absolutely bugger all. main dealer service every 2 years (approx £500) and if you want (ims scare stories etc.) an extended warrenty (approx £1200 p/a) and thats it. just add fuel!!!!

I bank on about 2 large per year, £1,200 for the warranty and £800 for tyres, oil etc. In a service year (every 2 years) another £500-£600 depending on major / minor service.I know you probably get asked this a lot but what are the running costs like?
I treat mine to the full Porsche dealer service as it's under warranty and they pick up all the incidentals they find, but you can get cheaper independent services out there.
Not a lot goes wrong, but tyres, batteries etc. when you are under warranty and need to have OEM items can be expensive. I dont expect they are much more than any niche / sporty car though including BMW or Audi.
I could probably save money but I like the peace of mind - next year it comes off the warranty program and I will be looking for a specialist to maintain it.

And the alloys are just classic - best of the 997 generation I reckon! Might need to treat them to a bit of a refurb this year, not curbed but starting to bubble in some areas, and spoiling the view of the red brake callipers.
