Hi chaps,
My 328 has been on this forum before, when it was owned by previous owners. I picked her up March last year & she has needed some good TLC/extra modifications along the way
. I will simply copy and paste the main bits from other forums I use to show what I have done to her and what I will be doing to her.

From 17 till now ive only ever had japs (i know i know!) but always lustered for a clean Mtec’d E36.
So for the past 2 years ive been looking on and off for a cleanish car, which was hard as they are old girls now (time flys!) I kept considering EP3s and DC2s...But i needed a change from jap. After viewing a couple late 323i Mtec kitted cars i knew i wanted one, only problem is the owners of the 323i were complete ‘tards :roll: . One owner wanted over 2k for a 1997 323i, granted it was FBMWSH but it needed a full front end respray, the second car didn’t have body flaws just drive train noises/issues again walked away.
My brother (also loves E36s) kept telling me to search for a Sport as you get alot more! (and they drink the same lol). So for the past 6 months i have been, until i hit the jack pot (in my eyes)...On eBay came a 328i Sport in technoviolet, with all the 'enhancements' i would want to do to it!
Went to view the car with my dad (back in the 90s he had an E30s and E34), it was the cleanest E36 i had seen. It drove like new as it had new engine mounts and gearbox mounts, new bushes, x-brace etc etc.
It has got a few niggles here and there, but i was very happy with the car. I kept asking the seller if he had a buy it now price (it was on a ebay auction with no reserve) he wouldn't give me a figure...He said he paid 3k for the car, i got a little disheartened :| as i was excepting him to say he wanted near 3k back. After me persuading him to give me a buy it now price, he had a word with his partner and we came to a ‘fair’ price for the car and it became mine!

Z3 Short shifter with shorter 'M' gear knob
M3 Limited Slip Differential (LSD) with 3.15:1 Ratio
Full M3 Evo 'Vader' Black Leather Interior Front & Rear (Manual Adjustment)
8 & 9x18" Genuine BMW/BBS Split rims with good tyres all round.
CCFL Angel eye headlights with Xenon dipped and main beam bulbs
Alpine iPod Headunit with lead in glove box
(All i can think of ATM)

Repair passenger side door card.

HIDs sorting - New Set installed sourced from HIDs direct.
Halos – (Done, wiring issue sorted.)
Purchase door card coin holder – (Purchased from Samsam)
Fit new M3 splitter (Done)
Purchase sill jacking point cover - removed greased and replaced.
Rear drive shaft seal & new LSD diff oil (Done)
Touching up in places on the body and treat surface rust(Done, Stylehaus)
Respray front bumper (Done, Stylehaus)
New Lemforder control arms & lollipop bushes - Done
AC mirrors bought from Joey, Sprayed by Stylehaus Done
RTAB powerflex Done
LED interior light update Done
LED rear number plate bulbs Done
E46 Quicker Steering rack with new complete track rods Done

& After all that, just keep her clean and serviced....My previous Mazda i built;

It has all the major mods, so with this one i will be making it as clean i can and original as i can. (a Velvet blue 330ci Clubsport would be nice in a couple of years, as they keep catching my eye! :shock: )
Washed her today, forgot to take pics during...
Products used, iron-x on the alloys/lower body, citrus shampoo and dried using wolly mammoth drying towel and good old autosol on the alloy lips. I will be giving her a good detail come June!
Digging around on forums, i noticed Sam’s (lad with Avus blue 328i sport on throwing stars) brother (205bandit username iirc) use to own my 328i sport and carried out a few of the modifications...Which is good to know as he did a brilliant job!
Will be updating as i clean/repair/enhance her. (excuse the poor quality of the pictures for the minute!)

Fitted these today;
Nearly knocked myself out tho at the scrapyard trying to remove standard e36 gaitors to glue the alcantara gaitors to them (save the oem leather items).
Was worth it tho, even tho my nose is still aching :\ lol. Goal is to freshen up the interior abit, so in the near future will be ordering the Storm hand brake and cigarette lighter.
Next job, repair passenger door card...Then next month remove front seats to do the scuff master refurb on the bolsters.(to do summer 2013!)

Slightly more progress,
Terrible pic at night i know, working in retail sucks! 10-8 shifts so i never see the light when i work on the bimmer....Oh and working good Friday and Monday :roll:. Reason the bumper is off, is because the rear wheel has at one point hit the rear arch lip and taken the paint off....Atm no rust has formed, so i will be knocking the lip into place, priming it with zinc and painting the lip. While i was at it, i spotted the bumper has rubbed the metal body work and being a nit picker i decided to pull the entire rear bumper off!
But like most jobs i start on the car, wont be done anytime soon due to work!

Shes still in my garage, as i am working on her when i can...Bought some M3 chrome door handles – Yet to fit (will fit them when i fit new speaks), and made more progress on the rear drivers arch lip that has been hit by the 18s at one point;
(got it back to metal, just a s
te photo.)Going to prime, paint and laquer that soon along with behind the bumper (few tiny rust spots, im a nerd and couldn’t leave em lol so will spray them too)
Alloys, as much as i love the OEM 18s that came with my Sport (from a E39 iirc) they are abit big and the offsets don’t allow me to fit coilovers without either arch work or camber arms etc...
Since seeing Bhups car and Reys Sierra red 328i couple years ago, i loved the E36 on Style 5s...Now you can call me a sheep but i had to have a set!
After biding/watching many sets, i kept loosing out (they were going for silly money). I nearly won these today;

Thought they would go around £380 but they clearly didn’t....I then found these;

Put a offer in and won em, not too far either so just got home from picking them up! (Anish, the guy that sold me them is a top guy and is also selling another set with tyres and some in 18s)
Plans for them, split, polish the lips and paint the centres in a custom colour...Not sure what yet. Oh and maybe fit some spacers for more poke.
Also bidding on a boot, plan is to get it welded and sprayed then fit a lip spoiler. (again very sheepish but meh, it works!)

Since i bought the car a swimming pool has come and gone in my boot, every time it rains. :x
Changed the seals in the rear lights (anyone wanting to do this, go b&q first and try rubber door seals) Thought it solved it, no joy. On the small plus side, cleaned all the st out from around the lights!
Got my dad to jet was the side of the car, fingers crossed i found the place its coming in from, the two rear vent things...Need to drop the bumper and investigate more later. :roll:
Looking moody on the drive! :twisted: Brothers project 328 vert also.
Shes booked in on Wednesday for a new seal on the rear left shaft and LSD diff oil.
Forgot to add, fitted some M3 Evo top mount covers! No pics atm.

Update time;
When it comes to cars i like them mint as i can get em, since i bought the 328i its had a few ‘grey’ hairs on a couple areas. So couple weeks ago i sent her in for;
Full bumper re-spray (someone in the past had bodged a semi job on the driver side)
Full rear bumper re-spray
Rear tail light section re-spray
Both rear arches rolled and sealed to prevent rust, then sprayed.
I only ever use the best in my town imo, StyleHaus.(guy who basically runs ED38 shows)
Steve(owner of stylehaus) was also working on this;
An E36 track car, he’s giving it a full re-spray. The lad that owns it is from London apparently was a 325i iirc but will be getting a 3.2 lump.
Will stick up pics when i get all the bumper trim and splitter back on, she’s looking a little sorry for herself atm.

Well its been a while. Started a new job in July, so from doing 60-100 miles a week i am doing on average 250 a week, so using the 6 cylinder fully!
She went through the MOT and failed, only wishbones/droplinks. Two new Lemforder items and it sorted the front out!
As i am always on M1 now to JNC 14 everyday, sometimes there are cheeky camera vans above the M1 near Newport. I’ve got an app that tells me my speed etc, but struggled to find a decent phone holder for the 36 to stick my Iphone in.
Took inspiration from Sye 320d thread, ordered a brodit clip (same finish as the 36 dash which is cool) bolted my arkon holder to that and job is a goodun.
(i know i need to change the huge screw lol)
Always wanted PDC as my brothers vert has it and its a very useful, so purchased the complete kit from CrMtech (top guys) and my brother fitted it for me(cheers),
With my new ET10 wheels that will be going on in March/April (soon as the salt has gone!) i started looking into coilovers to get the stance but be able to give it the beans on a back road. Looked into Eibach, KW, FK Konig, Jom etc. Then i started looking into HSDs HR monotubes, i liked the way you cab the adjust the height of the car and keep the shock travel the same. Went out in Princes charged 318is, was impressed by his so I took advantage of their offer they had going on;
All ready to fit them today, and then found this
Hard to capture, but there is a deep mark on the side of the top mount.
Not happy as they cost a fair old amount, ill see what Driftworks say Monday would ideally like a replacement. (Driftworks sorted it, top guys!)
Other than that I have been keep her clean from salt and maintaining her. RTABs, centre guibo thing/bearing, power steering fluid replacing and any other bushes that need doing will be done next month!
Next small mods are -
Swap the aftermarket blue LED for a modified OEM BMW alarm light
USB/Aux from an E9x BMW
Underseal the sills/archs with bilthamber products
Sort tiny bit off odd rust on driver side door.

Good at taking pictures of other peoples car, rubbish at my own. Doesn't look overly low in pics, but its alot lower then before...Not aiming for Mex low just yet :twisted: (had it lower but raised it at the rear when i had a full tank, reverse rake ftl)

Got them sprayed by my usual guy, Steve @ Stylehaus. He did a brilliant job as always, and fully recommend him! Mention you know me and he will sort you out, probably increase the price more then likely. :lol:
Will be paying Dips a visit soon i think too.

^^ That bit? If you mean that & your rust looks similar to that its nothing to worry about at all. Sand it down, Bilthamber (which i forgot), good primer and paint. Its surface rust if anything.
I found E36s that have spoilers have often hit the bottom lip due to the extra weight, cracking the paint causing slight surface rust.
