I've just purchased a 1992 £500 quid manual v8 Range Rover on eBay... Unseen 300 miles away.
I am creating this thread as a means of therapy - May the eBay gods be kind to me. I'm aware it may turn out to be a massive turd
Got a quote to deliver to southampton from Yorkshire for £280.... Pics and updates to be posted when I get to work in the morning.

Did I mention it doesn't start? ah, well it indeed needs looking at.
I've always wanted a Range Rover since I was a kid, so I guess I've finally scratched an itch. I decided to go for this one mainly due to;
- Manual Gearbox - Excellent!
- V8
- Cloth interior (Yum)
- Extensive Welding and repair to the underside. I had a chat with the guy selling and it sounds like it's been properly done - all new metal and any rusted metal cut out.
- New Brakes + Exhaust
Downsides;
- Mega rusty boot
- It doesn't start.......I guess this one sounds kind of fundamental, but after discussing with the seller, it sounds like it was running fine earlier last year, so have my fingers crossed for an easy fix.
Plan;
- Get it picked up ASAP - Transport company sorted
- Keep at my Brother In Laws house for a couple of weeks and assess condition......(My Track Car is currently at mine along with my 'normal' car, so no room)
- Providing it seems reasonably solid and the engine can be started without a rebuild (touch wood) it'll be MOT time!
- Sell my Alfa 166 and replace with Rangie for daily Transport
I've also purchased one of these, because I'm sad

As my G said well advertised and by the sounds of things the seller has already covered most of the structural repairs so hopefully everything else will be cosmetic and mechanical which imo is far less hassle on a vehicle like that. Hopefully it won't take much to get it running as it should. Nice little project old v8 rangies are super cool

Dont mean to put a dampener on your spirits but i bought mine as a non runner over a year ago, it does exactly the same as the one you have bought, splutters a bit but never actually goes, still doesn't start and i can't be arsed with it anymore

Yes...this is the part i'm a little concerned about. Broken Ignition or fuel system I probably fix, but rebuild is probably over my head.

Why do I feel partly responsible for this? I realise I'm not and when your text came in it was way toooo late! But I can't help but feel I should have offered sensible advice?!
Anyhow! Really looking forward to seeing it in the flesh, I am quite jealous actually (so I have no sensible advice to offer up anyway!). I've got my cap and walking stick out and will go over my OS maps for suitable trails! Wooohoooo!!!
Now to choose a name for your new friend. I am thinking Winston.
