Trackday Clio Project
Discussion
Been a while since I've posted anything on here. I sold the Porker some time ago, largely due to costs to enjoy it on track being prohibitive. So aswell as a mundane daily, I've been putting my time and effort into this. Current spec is;
Engine
- 438 Catcams
- K-Tec Induction Kit (White)
- K-Tec / Vibratec Solid Engine Mounts
- Matched Inlets
- K-Tec 3.5" Recessed Supersports exhaust
- 90k miles, Rolling Roaded @ 197 bhp, 165 lb ft ATF.
Transmission
- New Gearbox
- Gripper Plated Limited Slip Diff
Handling
- Bilstein B14 Coilovers
- Whiteline ARB
- Eibach Hubcentric Spacers (15mm) all round
Braking
- Ferodo DS2500's
- Brembo HCs (Front)
- Renault OEM Discs (Rear)
- Goodridge Braided Brake Lines
- ATE Superblue Racing Fluid
Interior
- 2x Sparco Evo 3 Bucket Seats
- OMP Subframes
- OMP 3" Harnesses
- Custom Oreca / Renaultsport 330mm Steering Wheel
- OMP boss
- 6 point Roll Cage
- K-Tec Rear Boot Mat
- Renaultsport Front Mats
- Sony CD Player with Ipod Connector
- White Dash Strips & Gear Insert
- Alcantara Handbrake Cover
- Rear Strut Brace
Exterior
- Cup Splitter
- Trophy Spoiler
- Renault Sport 197 Badge
- Porsche 'Bee Sting' Aerial
Unfortunately it is a little poorly at the moment, eating oil with bad compression. So, a forged engine built with even more lairy cams and ITBs or a turbo is in the pipeline. It is great fun on track, and they are so cheap to run / enjoy. For a french tin, I've been hugely impressed and love it
Some photos (apologies its pic heavy);

Cheers guys, it is good fun
The gripper is probably the best mod i've done to it, it has really helped on track, especially in the wet. I only put it in because the standard diff went and took the box with it, so I decided if I needed a new box, I may aswell drop a LSD in whilst I was at it
Dabofoppo - its a trophy spoiler. A friend of mine wrote his trophy off, so I nabbed the spoiler and struts and got it resprayed.

I thought it looked familiar, I saw you on the M4 near Reading a few months back in my Silver 172 if you remember?
The car looks superb, really well done and it's a great colour. The standard 5 spokes really suit it too, funnily enough, I actually swapped mine over for silver Turinis only today! I've also changed to Cooksport springs since you last saw my car, which are a big improvement.
Agree they really are great cars and bang for buck wise they really can't be beaten

Grenpayne - I do remember chap, cooksports sound good, I've heard good things about them.
Cheers for the comments guys, 'clubsport' spec is exactly what I was aiming for as whilst it needs to be primarily fun on track I still need to drive it to Le Mans / the ring etc so some comfort has been kept. Torn between turbo'ing to 270ish bhp or ITBing it to 215ish bhp. Similar outlay of cash, but I love the noise of ITBs....decision decisions. Feel free to give the opinion of which you'd go for, may help me make up my mind.

man i love this clio. i have one the same colour and wheels - albeit 15s unfortunately.
i want to print that top photo in a3 for the wall next to my desk because its so awesome and really showcases how good looking these cars are - but its low resolution = could you please post a link to a max resolution version?
mine hasn't the list of mods yours has but i went for the same exhaust, except I'm lucky enough to be able to run a de cat pipe on the road here. k&n, brembo max hc, good ridge brake hoses, ebc redstuff on the drone and oem brembo on the back. superblue. eibach springs. and a 98RON map from fastchip
what track day tyres would you recommend? does your car handle and drive as nicely on the 16s compared to the 15s?
cheers! and awesome car man - its the one i want haha - bit more work for me still but the roll cage etc is so cool. really tastefully done,

So, I supercharged it, did a few other bits like fitting Brembo 4 pots up front, and it is nearly done. Just some roll centre adjustment hubs to throw on and dare I say, it will be done.
