BMW 728i SE and car history
Discussion
I seem to have a recent addiction to purchase cars. History as follows, pics on another three somewhere.
2002-2003. J reg Escort - rubbish, did 10k, sold with 40k on clock, friend bought to do big miles and blue up with 80k 18mths later.
2003-2006. 2003 Cooper. brand new, took it to the Alps twice, seemed to always break down, but was great!
2006-2009. 2005 Cooper S. brilliant car, but again not reliable!
2007-2009. 1994 525 Touring. Bought with 202k sold with 230k and still smoking around with a friend on 250k. Bulletproof.
2009-2011. 2000 530iA SE. Bought to do big miles but fuel killed me. So LPGd it. Sold with gearbox fault on 190k.
2009-Today. 1997 UKDM DC2. Chassis no 1. Looks and feels special, going nowhere!
2010-Today. 2004 Passat Estate Highline. Boring but great! Just does the job with great economy.
2011-2011. 1995 Mazda MX5 mk1 1.8. Got a bit excited. Was reliable but rubbish.
2011-2013. 1993 Mazda MX5 mk1 1.6. brilliant! White, lowered, nice exhaust, great fun! Everything the last one wasn't. Only sold as friend was desperate for it and I rarely used it.
2011-Today. 2010 Cooper S. 35k in no issues at all! High spec, good on fuel, but bit boring. Apart from ride great commuter.
2012-Today. 1998 Kawasaki Ninja. First bike, too scary, hardly use it
2012-2013. BMW 328i Sport, fully track prepped at cost of £8000 before company went bust. Actually bought three but friends bought others.
2013-2013. 1995 Ford Mondeo Ghia X. BB bargain. Looked good, was fun, but didn't need it,
2013-2013. 1998 540iA Touring. Bought for event below, but fuel economy was so bad I never used it. And it felt tired with 170k. Last E39 felt much tighter at that mileage.
And on to the latest. 1999 BMW 728i SE with white leather and all the toys, including fax machine. 1st owner for 13yrs, FBMWSH, virtually mint, 135k.
Bought for a stag trip to Munich in two weeks to avoid flying. Will be going to Ring enroute. Does 35mpg on a run easily and everything works and drives spot on. Comfortably inside my £1000 budget to boot!
Done 1500 so far with no issues, with experience of other BMW she is barely run in! It is after all my lowest ever mileage BMW.
