Hello from a new member! (car pics)

Hello all,

I've been a site stalker for quite a while now and decided to join up and get involved! I've read many helpful topics on this forum and the banter always makes it a joy to read.

I thought the best way to introduce myself would be with my car.

Here she is (back in January) waiting at the garage to be picked up. A 207 HDi 90 Sport.

How are you getting on with it, I'm two-and-bit years in with a VTi 95 Sport.

Aye, it's a good car. Only done about 1600 miles since January though so can't comment on problems thus far. Diesel is more refined than my mums Megane. Averaging 53 mpg at the moment.

I've often wondered what the VTi is like. The diesel is not fast but fine for normal driving. How's the petrol version?

Not bad, sounds alright through the 'Sports Exhaust Tip', though how different it is to one without I don't know. Burbles and parps around town, sounds surprisingly meaty in the middle-upper reaches. Once you learn what ratios put you where, it's entertaining enough keepingmitmon the boil, my only gripes are with the clutch and gearbox, both of which are horribly naff and ruin the car for me. However after spending a week in a 60-plate Sportium HDi 92 I wanted to swap as both were infinitely better. Driving position gets me a bit too, sports seats are good enough, but the pedals are too close, but I have to reach out for the wheel. It'll do 58 on a run. Averages at around 47/48mpg. Got mine on 17,500, now it's on 36,400.

Paint seems good, mine looks great, clean in the sun, the finish is great and it shines a treat. Super smooth.

Wish mine had the 16s as I think they'd ride over bumps a bit better where my narrower 15s sink into them. Ride in the diesel on bigger wheels was better.

Running costs have been good, one small fault in just over two years, though the supplying main dealer is dire. Currently due a service.

Now THAT is a pretty car you have looks better in the three door.

The ride is spot on with the 16s (I was thinking about some GTi 17s but it would very probably ruin it). The biggest surprise for me was how fun it was compared to my old 3 cylinder Polo. the 207 stays pretty flat through the corners but the Polo rolled like a pig. I have the same sports tip on my one but its more of a fashion accessory on the diesel which sounds like a tractor no matter what you do.

Mind you, it was blown into the weeds after I tried a 208 GTi a couple of weeks back

Thanks, Peugeot paint quality seems pretty good. That said, the nose has had two partial resprays and one complete after two cock-ups at repairing a lacquer issue. Really wanted a 3-dr, but christ the doors are huge. Do you feel the interior door handles are really far away, just not where youd expect them..?

I've literally just gone to go out, but found my exhaust tip to be hanging right down, the silencer strap has just rusted away to nothing. The exhaust is one-piece manifold to tip, and PSA don't supply the strap on its own, so I'm staring at a £795 bill. Little bit of digging and I've found a company in Derby that fabricate them, and £24 later I have one on the way. Some handy consumer knowledge there if you find yours looking the same.

You know, that was the very first thought I had after the test-drive. I wasn't looking at the door and had a moments fumble about to find the handle. Seems strange to have it placed so far forward.

That's good to know. I'll be checking that next time I'm out. Mine's done 60000 miles so god knows what state it's in.

Everyone grapples around by the window switch in mine.

The offending strap. The tip is hanging a good 6 or 7 inches lower than it should. Maybe more. Good job I car share and I won't have to drive to work for two weeks.


Another thing you might be interested in is the Aux-In. Facelift cars got it standard, little box in the glove compartment with a Twin-RCA and a 3.5mm jack. I wanted it when I bought mine from the main dealer, had it fitted on the sly for £30 cash.
