I picked this up this evening:
It's in great condition overall - no rust or any bodywork issues of note. It could do with a couple of new tyres (trying to find something decent in 14" size is interesting!), and there's a rather noticeable clonk over bumps and on lock. Hopefully that's just something loose.
Either way, my plans are limited. It has a couple of mods - a Nardi steering wheel and non standard back box, but I plan to keep it standard, and just enjoy it for what it is.
Incidentally, the 182 is now for sale - keep an eye on the classifieds for an advert soon!

I'd go for the Uniroyals as they are good tyres in all conditions.If you want terrible ones, just buy the hardest, slippiest rubbish you can find.
I had one in white - best colour for them 
Personally I'd say find yourself some 2nd hand 15" alloys, get them powder coated a dark colour - anthracite or something, and then you'll have much better choice in tyres. Better looks and more grip, and probably make their money back too as 15" tyres tend to be cheaper than 14 inch in some cases!

Incidentally I see your Clio almost everyday at Brize (I'm on 30 Sqn), always wondered who owned it! Not sure if you've ever seen my silver 172 driving about, it's got Speedline Turinis on and a black PH sticker on the back

Very nice indeed - Had my first drive of a MK1 (albeit on a grass airfield) last night courtesy of a fellow PH'er. Was an absolute hoot to drive kicking the back end out, I'm incredibly tempted by one, all I need to do is save up a bit more 
Interesting colour though, you don't see too many in white. I'm not the biggest fan of white coloured cars usually, but I think it can work on this (perhaps with a different set of wheels in dark grey or black?)

Well I've had it a month now, and to be honest, it's not entirely good news. I'm finding it very difficult to get excited about driving the '5. Unlike the Clio 182 I sold it for, it just doesn't seem to 'want' to be driven hard. The Clio could be thrown around all over the place, and thrashed mercilessly, and it'd thank you for it. The '5 just doesn't seem to want to do that (the knocks and clonks don't exactly inspire confidence either).
I'd always been an advocate of not requiring a huge amount of power to have fun, but I really think in this case it isn't powerful enough.
I don't know. Maybe I need a go in another one to see if it's just my car. At this point, I'm really regretting selling the Clio
