... Bangernomics.

I've been on here for a long time now and realised I haven't done a readers car thread. Up until early yesterday, my garage consisted of one car. Now I have three. smile

First up is my everyday workhorse. My Primera. I love this car. I've had it for over two years and 30,000 miles and it has never let me down, not even once. Starts first time and is quite economical on fuel. It needs a good service as it is looking a little tired lately with 102k on the clock, having been in service for almost everyday since I purchased her back in June 2011. She had full service history with almost every option ticked on it which makes it a wonderful daily. All four £750.

Next up is today's purchase. Another Nissan. A Micra 1.0 automatic. This is hopefully going to be the casual run around to shops and to visit family/friends. It has one owner from new and has been kept in very good condition. There are a few shopping car park battle scars, but that just adds to it's character. Tax & MOT till March next year, 4 new tyres, full service 6k miles ago and 3/4 of a tank of petrol. All this for just £375.

Finally, yesterday's purchase.

Purchased yesterday as an itch that I've wanted to scratch for quite some time. It's a '94 Japanese import with 100k miles on the clock (the odo is still in kms and it's currently a few hundred shy of 160k). This will be a work in progress car that I can tweak to my hearts desire.

This was purchased as a swap with my MILs Toyota Previa, which we all loved but unfortunately had no use for anymore. The seller was trying to be a little opportunistic in his asking price but I managed to grab this for the Previa plus £80. I guess if I was to value it compared to the value of the Previa, it would be hovering over the £900 mark. Excellent.

I'll update the thread as I go along with the changes I make as there is a lot to put right in this car. There are signs of rust on the rear arches and the modifications were very questionable from the previous owner. The rear tyres were far bigger than the front and illegal, so these were changed asap from a the place round the corner from the seller. The interior was filthy and the rear seats were covered in dog hair. An Acura badge stuck on the rear which baffled me. There was also some 'carbon fibre' tape on the lights which came off while the rear tyres were being changed.

There was, however, a dyno printout of the car with a supposed 228 bhp. Not sure I believe that, but I haven't explored the cars power properly as of yet. But sitting in it remind me of why I love this gen prelude: Dat dash! smokin

Anyway, pics from the ad and my own from today showing the front.

Micra was indeed a steal. Knee owner from new so very happy.

I do have plenty of plans for the Prelude so will keep this thread updated with work done.

I purchased this from a bloke who knew nothing about these in East London.

Edit - just remembered, he took it in part exchange for an EP3 he sold to someone.

Well, a bit of a st update but here goes.

The Primera got hit back at the end of August and is possibly written off and I sold the lude earlier today to a lovely chap from Bedford. I hope he enjoys it more than I have. I only drove it for about 1000 miles in the 3 months of ownership.

So, I need to purchase a replacement for both and have my eyes on Tampons Subaru Legacy which appears to be good shape and looked after.

I may need to start another thread as just the Micra in this one is pretty pathetic. hehe

That Micra was cheap, good deal there.

Although, are you not tempted to cash in all 3 cars and just have 1 more expensive car, such as a 328i or Clio 172 etc?

We need more than one car ideally as there are three drivers.

At present me and my BIL are sharing the Micra (he usually takes it to football when not in the mood to take his bike) but my MIL then can't drive when she comes back into the country if either of us have it. Hence why I'm interested in a Legacy.

I need something big to take the kids around in every so often too.
