Impreza MK2 Type 20
Discussion
Hi all, just joined after seeing some pictures of the meet in Kent recently and thought i would get involved.
Here is my car
Its an Hawkeye 2006 Impreza of the JDM variant, it was one of the few that Mr Litchfield turned into Type 20's
Its had a little work since as well

Has an additional black front lip splitter as well now.
Had the car a while, its a fun bit of kit that brings a smile to my face every time i drive it.
I also own a KAD 16V converted mini
Its a little go kart, nice to drive something with no power steering from time to time.

Hilux is my daily.
Thats what i drive, look forward to meeting some members at some of the local events.
I will be attending rally day at castle combe in september so if your going come and say hi

Welcome OP
Thank you, i hope to get them to some events soon.Welcome OP

Cheers,
Well that is the million dollar question, they are both great and both have their differences.
The Impreza is like its on rails around the corners and has very minimal lag due to the upgraded Litchfield billet twin scroll turbo, its a drivers car and needs input from the driver but nowhere near as much input as the mini.
With no power steering in the mini and 146BHP of normally aspirated power on tap it can be a handful, even more so in traffic as the suspension is set for the track and its poly bushed up so not a lot of ride comfort, its an old school driving experience. The noise it makes is immense, its like driving a spitfire, and the gearbox noise is in another world its running a KAD straight cut 5 speed dog box whic is a brilliant box in the perfect dog leg first and 2nd to 5th in the H pattern, however not something i would want to be negotiating around rush hour traffic.
Both great cars but for quite different reasons

Hi Dan, we spoke over the net many years ago.

No the car no longer exists, parts of it are all over the world. I've got a k20 power lotus elise now which is a bit futher down the list here in readers cars.
Like your two though, nice little fleet!
I've just had a look at your car, smart bit of kit you have there, will keep an eye out for it at the track days.
You'll notice i could not help fitting some KAD bits to the impreza as well, there is a set of 6 pots on there lol, its like an addiction ha ha.

Cheers guys,
Unfortunately the Mini developed a noise, it sounded like it could have been drawing air in from between the block and the carbs.
So we tightened those up a touch which didnt seem to fix it, bunged some new plugs in for good measure with still no joy, compression tested it and seem to have no compression in 1 or 2 so with a bit more digging its become apparent my head gasket has failed between 1 and 2.
Not bad considering its been built for 10-11 years and has had some stick over that time, it has wanted for nothing since getting it so fair play to KAD on building a quality engine.
should be back on the road in a few weeks, cannot wait trackday at Lydden Hill on the 7th September i think
