Vauxhall Victor F Type - Cherished Number plate

Good Afternoon everyone,

First post on here. Was wondering if anyone could help me please......

I am currently restoring a 1960 Vauxhall Victor F type at first I bought her and thought that was she quite a solid example, as i've stripped it down the whole floor was rotten and so is the roof! nevertheless I am completely motivated to restore the car stronger than how it came out of the factory.

To cut a long story short. The original registration of this Vauxhall Victor is 840 AXO the plates were sold on and unfortunately I am stuck with NNA125G (Yes a 1969 registration on a 1960 car!) How they managed to get it registered for that year I do not know..... The engine number and chassis number matches up to NNA125G and previously 840 AXO I have been told and shown this from previous ebay listings, and have received a lot of help from club members about the history of the car and registration.

I decided to google 840 AXO and managed to eavesdrop on a conversation (http://www.pistonheads.com/gassing/topic.asp?h=0&t=535494&d=11167.21571&nmt=)

a chap with the username of bertelli_1 has sold 840AXO and its now on a BMW. I am just wondering is bertelli_1 on here a lot? if he isn't on this forum no more, is there someone who can politely pass on my contact details to him to find out the whereabouts of the number plates. I will be willing to buy them back as long as a reasonable price is suggested. I could really do with the original number plate as I would be the odd one out at all of the classic shows. I would appreciate it a lot if someone would help me please.

Ron - I'm guessing the plate was removed a long time ago - ask swansea to allocate a proper age related (dateless plate as they broke their own rules when they applied the NNA 125G plate) Golden rules with reg plates is you cannot make a car appear newer than it is

A lot of cars with dateless plates ABC 123 got them removed and they were issued with ABC 123A style plates - till it was pointed out that it contravened their own rules

You should be able to have a "non transferable" dateless plate swapped onto the vehicle if you push hard enough
Sure beats trying to buy the original plate
