Suzuki Ignis Sport

Hi everybody
since my last car (95 A4 V6) decided to throw its toys out of the pram and ended up getting to stand in the naughty corner permanently. The demise of the Audi left me without a car for 2 months, in which time I used my bike to get around.
The bike was good but using it everyday was taking the fun out of riding, I wanted to keep the bike as a weekend toy so I went on the hunt for a new car.
Gumtree, Ebay and autotrader were all searched to no avail. The purchase criteria was simple it had to cheap to run and fun at the same time.
A budget of £1500 had been set. A fiat sicento micheal schumacer edition was spotted and dismissed, on the 2nd page the Ignis popped up and it was local to me although it was over budget. I forgot about it after that.
As the search continued this Ignis popped up again with a slightly lower price although still above the budget so once again it was dismissed and I turned my attention to a mk4 Astra SRi, it was cheap looked to be in good nick however a wee bit later the Ignis appeared again but this time it was within budget.
I had a look over the internet to find info about common problems, generally there wasn't much info about but it was mentioned that they were generally reliable and an absolute hoot. a text later and I arranged a viewing.
When I arrived the car did look a bit sorry for itself, the wheels need a refurb and there is a small dent in the bonnet but other than that it looked straight and rust free.
The owner turned up and after a wee test drive a deal was struck. I was kind of unsure about what I had bought but it drove well had FSH so it would do the job.
I filled it up with fuel, checked the tyre pressures and took some back roads home.
I soon realised the car is a total hooligan, there is so much grip and the 1.5 is eager to rev, I was laughing all they way home throwing it into bends with gay abandon.
the lack of power steering means there is plenty of feel, something I didn't even realise I had missed seeing as I had been spoiled with power steering all these years. The suspension is rock solid but standard (they are all like that sir). It just seemed the car was egging me on to push harder into the corners.
anyway some pics
It has filled the criteria perfectly, insurance is at a reasonable £280, tax is £170 for the year which isn't great and it will apparently pull 40mpg although that has to be seen
For the moment I will have a wheels refurbed and a fresh set of discs and pads (looking at greenstuff pads to sharpen it up a bit) and just enjoy it for what it is. a bloody excited terrier
The styling makes young children cry but I don't care I am having too much fun

If you don't have power steering it's broken.
I only got 36 MPG on a run to Cornwall using V-Power as it did'nt run particularly well on anything else and never saw much more than 30 MPG day to day.
Nice to have A/C though in a tiny car, was very effective.
Pretty quick for what they are, Just felt a bit floatly complared to the Saxo that proceeded it and i never really gelled with the Ignis.
The steering felt far too artificial and gave me no confidence at all.

Looks Good, I really like them in blue!
I just bought one a couple of days ago aswell and i absolutely love it, I love how silly they look with the body kit, spoiler and white wheels.
My worry was how the interior looked in person but everyone seems to compliment the yellow netting and the fake carbon fibre breaks up the dash a little.
Absolute comedy gold on my first drive to fill it up. Turning left on a sunny day and the window wipers come on, having the stalks on the other side took a while to get used to.

Superb choice, brilliant little cars with motorsport history and the best part is no one knows what the hell it is ( my girlfriend purchased a black and white cat soft toy for me, can you guess why

Love mine, had her since November, been fantastic, the only things I don't love about her are the fact you do need to run them on super ( Ron 98 and above best so V power and Tesco momentum are what I use unless I really need petrol ) the plastics scratch easily and parts aren't everywhere for them, but I guess that's the price you pay for something a bit different.

) but yellow, rarest colour for them I believe and best colour for them too, only thing I'd change about mine ( although the Japanese spec Ignis Sport, were it was known as the Swift, was available in white and I think they look fantastic ).

Have any of you guys had experience with running bigger wheels on these, how did it affect the ride, handling etc.
I've been away since monday and I really want to get back home so I can go for another spin haha

Had 16" 195s on mine, ride was noticeably harder on them, i wouldn't go any bigger than that.no worries 4star it's good to see that these cars are well recieved.

That's good to know. Thought about changing the wheels rather than refurbing the 15" wheels. Heres what Car Enthusiasts review said about the wheels

from what I have seen online it would take away some of the cars ability for shenanigans which I rate higher than looks so the 15s will stay
