Hi all,

Recently purchased this to replace my 172 cup. It's a 2012 Megane RS 250, FF with cup chassis, recaros, sat nav, DTRL and a few other bits... so far loving it. Paid more than I wanted to - but very few full spec to choose from. I was toying between this, 370Z GT, or a 325i M coupe. Then it came down to the 250 or the 265. I think I have made the right decision.

The only thing I really wanted on top of this was the RS Monitor, however it's one or the other. Good old Renault(!). Xenons would be nice, but may add myself later.

This will be my daily driver... and the only thing planned so far is a remap/bluefin - expecting about ~300bhp (quite common); but will wait until out of warranty. Will start from there, but will probably end up with a sports cat for better noise.

Will get some more/better pics up shortly. Let me know your thoughts!

Really like the look of these with the CUP chassis, how does it drive? Only option i would of asked for is Xenons and it would be perfect!

Very nice. I didn't even know there was a 250, I thought it was just 265. smile

Drives superbly, really pleased with it. Feels solid all the time, proven by the greatly maintained roads of Britain! Still trying to get used to the LSD though, but it just savagely pulls you round the corners. biggrin Agree about the Xenons, but can retro fit if I feel the need I guess.

Possibly a deceiving picture, it's definitely not riding high.

Thought I recognized the spec, my dad went to have a look at it. Stunning car I would have gone for a nose at it but I had a track day. Those wheels suit it so much better than the 19s. Aside from RS Monitor and Xenons is is damn near pefect spec, and the only things missing aren't really important. An absolute steal at what it was up for.

Didn't know my car was famous(!). Not the best pic for the wheels - but yeah i do prefer these over all the other options. I'm told the 19" ride is very crashy. Quite like the Tibors on the 265 though. On price - I pushed for a few hundred off of an already reduced price too... so shall not complain too much!

Sounds like most people do the same sort of mods first off! I'm thinking bluefin might be a cheats way of doing it during warranty period - but not convinced just yet.

I'm in Chester mate, yourself?

lovely, really like them in this colour too.
I had an R26 and then went for a Clio 200, would really like to get a 250/265 one day, Renaultsport did a blinding job with these in my opinion.

I'm daahn saaaf in Surrey, I was just asking because you're only about 1.5-2hrs from rs tuning in Leeds who are really highly regarded for tuning Renaults. That's where I'm going for mine, they rolling road before and after and tailor it to your car and any modifications you have. I don't think it's much more £. Something to think about anyway! There's a lot of threads on it on Meganesport.

Have fun and enjoy!

Out of interest, when was the build date? a 12 plate is quite late for a 250.

Good choice, 90% of the RS monitor is useless in fairness and can be replicated with an ODBii reader and an iPhone/Android app. Oil temp is about the only display I use.
The bit that might be useful is the throttle mapping which basically changes the input/output of the throttle pedal with it being fly by wire. The 'Extreme' mapping is like stamping on the throttle even when you just move it slightly, really helps rocket it you along.

Recently moved from a Clio 200 to a Megane 250 and it's amazing how different the two are, definitely would recommend the Clio as a weekend/track car but finding the Megane to be a bit more civilised.

Tempted with a remap myself but have about 14 months of warranty left and undecided as to if I should just get it done, it's just as likely to blow up in or out of warranty but I've yet to hear of anyone have any problems with them.

Agree on the wheels as well, the 18's are a lot nicer than any of the 19's which are all a bit chintzy, tyres are more expensive and they must be even more of a git to clean.

March 2012... so get standard 4yr warranty too! Must be one of the last 250's I think. They started registering 265's around the same time.

Glad you said that about the RSMonitor... I am rather enjoying the sat nav, but thought I was getting old and boring! Oil temp would be nice though.
