Merc CLS - with matte paint

Recently picked this up. Its a CLS 350CDI Grand Edition which means its factory remapped to 272 bhp and comes with the nice AMG alloys. its the last of the 'old' shape so they have added some toys. It has unusual paintwork described by MB as 'designo magno platinum' which looks great but will probably be a nightmare to sort if it gets damaged !

With only 560 of the Grand Editions sold in the UK, mine, in this colour should be a very rare sight.





Its a corker of a car - very fast, frugal and super quiet. These cars, second hand, are fantastic value for money...and if you are anything like me, you'll be straight onto the classifieds

Yes, fantastic value for money as a three or four year old buy.

A depreciation money pit if you buy from new as I found out to my cost three years ago....

Not a big fan of the matte paint, but the original CLS has a lovely shape, far nicer than the new one. It's Masarati-esque in its good looks.

That's why I only buy 'previously enjoyed'.

This one's a 59 plate and was a bargain - even though it was supplied by MD Direct (which in itself was a very pleasurable experience)

I've also found MB customer service to be excellent.

My guv'nor has the 63 version with the mufflers deleted.

I remember seeing one for the first time in 2006 when they first came out

stunning

but i disagree they have aged well, compared with the new CLS with the vagina lights at the back they look old as the hills

still a cracking car, enjoy!

I'd disagree to be honest I think they've aged pretty badly in a short space of time. But they do still look great, I'm a fan of them.

I have the 500 version and love it, it has all the toys having cost £72k new (£12k of extras) and I feel like a total gangsta pimp crack dealing mofo in it, which sounds like it should be a bad thing but just isn't :-)

Mine is in Mystic Blue which seems to be pretty rare and has tha AMG bodykit and wheels, the previous owner put a 2012 grille on it and had it lowered by a MB tech.

It looks the business imho

Modern grille does seem to make a difference actually.

I get to see two similar cars parked up next to each other on a daily basis, my MD has a 2013 CLS350, it's petrol, black, seems to have all the AMG bits on it, looks really nice.

One of the other directors has a 2010 CLS350 also in black, same as above really but older shape.

Can't be bothered scouring Google image search for too long but;

A bit like VW Passat CC vs CC, side by side the older one looks really dated.

You're right, but then I guess that applies to all cars. The new CLS is stunning, particularly inside.

The main difference of course is the price, a new one will set you back about £50k, mine was less that £18k and for that, I'll happily run with the 'classic' shape and park it away from any of the new ones I see
