My Mini - Nearly Finished!!!
Discussion
Hello
Just thought I would post some pictures of mini as after 3 years of waiting it is now nearly ready for the road again
It has passed the MOT, been resprayed and I just had my new carb fitted and setup today so it is good for the road. I just need to do a few little odds and sods and then get it taxed ready for the road this weekend!

Oh and I am taking the sticker off the back window tomorrow before anyone comments!

When I saw the first picture, my immediate thought was 'meh, what a ridiculous sticker!'
Then I see that you agree
It's fabulous, I love these classic Minis. She looks great, you must be well proud.
Brave colour too! Is it even louder in the flesh?
Good luck with it!
And now I would like to see some pictures of under the bonnet too please...

Yes when I had the car I was 16 (excuses...) but it draws so much attention best to take it off before someone vandalizes it!Then I see that you agree

I am really proud it has took me ages as been at Uni then living away for a year on placement but its finally sorted nearly

With regards to the colour yes it is very loud, in these pictures it is not even sunny and the pearl really shows in the sun.
I will get bonnet pictures but it is best described as a work in progress with that aspect... It does run as sweet as a nut now I had it properly set up however!

Well bloody good effort then to get the car to such a high standard whilst at Uni and placement. What was the Uni / placement course out of interest?
The University was Lincoln University studying Business StudiesThe placement was at Lakesmere a construction company in Winchester (near Southampton)
I originally come from Walsall near Birmingham so you can see why it has taken so long logistically to complete...
Quick video earlier of it running will try and get a walk around tomorrow

Oh cool. I thought maybe it was a medical degree - these always have placements - I am starting one in September!
Strangely enough - I know exactly where Lakesmere is, because I live about 2 miles away from it

How weird!
Taxed and Insured it today £77 for 6 months tax madness this is meant to be a classic...
Anyway made it round the block twice until it started spluttering and popping running on three and then decided to brake down 5 foot from my house
As the engine warmed up it seemed to get worst and it was spluttering and bogging badly low in the rev range so I have the carb bloke coming back tomorrow to look at it. I suspect something to do with the timing and it not advancing properly or something like that...

Running fault all sorted points had closed up
Done about 350 miles now and made it to the Sunday Service this weekend
I have since fitted legal plates and also got the bits to finish the front grill off, I have also had the handbrake adjusted and done a couple of other bits oil change etc...
Just need to get the roof gutter sorted as has a couple of minor rust patches right in the gutter and get it sprayed as I only had the front and sides done a the back was rust free and then we should be sorted externally.
Future plans are to get the headlining fitted I had to make the door cards and generally tidy it up underneath and detailing stuff, new shocks, wheel refurb etc...
Next year I want to build up a nice 1293 turbo to drop in nothing major just circa 140bhp - 150bhp which should be "sufficient"
Couple of pictures

Thanks
Really is so much fun my daily drive is a 200bhp golf and it is sat rotting whilst I have far more fun with the 45bhp of this mini! Handling of it really is fantastic just like a go kart and the feel of the steering and the throttle response you just cannot replicate on a modern car I really do just love it
When it has the turbo engine will have the go to match the show as well
You can squeeze 200bhp out of the 1293 turbo now but I think 140 - 150 should be sufficient enough for me to s
t my pants...

Clocked up 800 miles now without issue not sure what it is doing mpg wise but it seems to be very high as never really seem to have to fill the thing up!
Had a few people come and speak to me about the car when I park up many being older people who had a mini when they were younger which is nice.
Quick picture next to my gti helping to show just how small it is!

Lol, they sure do look small now compared to everything else.I was standing at a pelican crossing with a mate yesterday, and the traffic was heavy and inching past us. As the traffic stopped, the car right in front of us was a BMW Mini countryman.
I could barely see past it! I looked over at the front, then to the back, then to the top of the roof, and said to my mate "this car is a MINI, apparently!"
They're huge. Just ridiculous.
Don't get my started on the Countryman I like the new Mini and don't mind the Clubman even but the Countryman is a f
king joke and a shame to the mini name imo.
In brighter news I am now up to 1500 miles but have been back at Uni a few weeks and therefore have not used the car a lot. However I went home for the first time in 5 weeks this weekend the car had been sat and after a bit of turning over started straight away 2nd turn of the key which I felt was impressive. My modern golf gti on the other hand had a flat battery...
