Picked this up the other week smile

2001 Broom Yellow Punto HGT 1.8 on 60k miles. Needed some minor bits to get MOT as had been stood for some months un used, but was much better than I was expecting which is always nice, and no.. no welding was required for the MOT hehe one night on the ramp and it was ready.

It's actually a very honest little car, tidy and straight inside and out, bought from the 3rd owners who were a middle aged couple and just didn't use it anymore. Gave £300 for it. Have every MOT and receipt including the receipt for purchase in 2001, which on a car like this doesn't really add any value but it's still nice to have. Has had belts but will be due again in the not so distant future, no issue as it'll be done DIY anyway.

In any measurable way it's nothing special at all, but I do like puntos for some reason, and it seems quite happy just bumbling along in high gears with being a 1.8 version. It's not fast by any means, have a bike for that kind of fun, but definitely less gutless than my last 1.8 Mk2 focus. Not expecting anyone to be particularly impressed as it's hardly a flash car, but it does exactly what I need it to as I've not been able to afford a car for a while it's nice to be able to get about a bit again smile

I like these a lot. Especially for £300, plus say that on top to get it as you like and that's a bargain.

BARGAIN at £300!

A mate of mine had a new one of these back in 2001/2. It had the odd Blaupunkt 5 (?) CD system in the centre console.
I seem to recall it was quite fun to whizz around town in, although his gear knob would pop off the top of the stick if you were a little too quick through the gears!

Haha yeah it had that in but I've fitted a modern head unit. Speakers and little sub in the boot as standard are pretty decent though.

Yeah, it's probably coming in around £400 now which isn't bad at all I think. MOT tax etc I just see as running costs so don't really bother me, although being a 1.8 the tax isn't cheap for a small car.
