M5 and TVR Chimaera 500

After lurking on PH for many years now, I've finally decided to write a little bit about my cars.
First up is my E60 M5. For some reason I have always wanted an M5 of some sorts. I suppose it is just a random dream car. I bought this one after joking to my mate that I would get one if I could insure for under a £1k. Well the quote came in far cheaper, so went on Autotrader after explaining to him that I wouldn't settle for anything other than the spec I wanted (trying to get out of it more like). Well I found one, 30 miles from my office, so off we went to have a look. Two hours later it was on the driveway and I was trying to justify it to the wife :-)
The car is amazing, the sound, the speed, how quickly it can drink fuel, but I wouldn't change it in any way. Unfortunately the warranty ran out and then two throttle actuators packed up, cue £1500 bill.
I have a real love/hate relationship with the TVR. I bought it last year after seeing it parked up at my mechanics garage in a real poor state. The previous owner had it off the road for over 6 years because he couldn't afford to repair it. A deal was struck with my mechanic for literally peanuts.
I set about trying to restore it to it former glory, but haven't really had the time to do anything bar drive it. Fantastic machine when its working.
It is currently off the road at the moment due to the clutch going, but its booked in for a respray in December, and various upgrades in the new year. I have booked a place on the Rogue Run next year to basically drive around europe with some mates and get away from the daily grind.

Know what you mean about the love/hate relationship with the TVR, been through that however it's well worth it once sorted. Also been through the throttle actuators on a BMW. Mine was an E92 M3 which coincidentally had just dropped out of warranty too.
Don't see many Chims with the Cerb style lights either, really like that

The TVR does look nice with the cerb front, but it has been poorly done. Plus there is a lot of paint that has come off, hence the respray. I just have to keep reminding myself that the TVR will look good in the long run.
It was a pain with the actuators going on the M5, but I just had to put it done to normal running costs. My theory is that if I can afford to run that, then I shouldn't have much of an issue moving up to something more exotic! Man maths at its best
