The 170,000 milestone was passed this week driving and the car is (still) a delight to drive.

20 years of ownership pleasure/delight.

A few pictures taken this morning between the rain showers:

Love it. Even the speedo is beautiful.

Would you mind posting yearly upkeep costs out of intrest?

All the best,

Have you considered writing a carpool article for the Bentley?

That appears to work out as 51p per mile (ish) on maintenance alone before any fuel / insurance / tax etc.

Is that typical of the Bentley Eight's or is yours particularly well maintained and/or unlucky ?

I'm a total Bentley novice I'm afraid but I've always loved these and would love to own one one day. That's pretty steep in the running costs game though!

+1

and would 14k miles per annum reduce that to 25p per mile in maintenance?
and where were the bills from? indy I guess?

one of these would be on my lottery win list smile

The bigger bills have occurred when something was picked up during routine service (not at an independent garage).

For 8k miles on average.
Plus fuel.
<wince>

But, yes, very very very nice indeed. I once got horribly tempted by an '84ish (carb'd) Mulsanne Turbo. In turd brown. With north of 300k on it. And a wad of invoices documenting it's return to the factory for services every 5k miles...

Those are the costs for the most recent 10 years and 80k miles. I suppose it may have needed nothing until then. Or not...

It's a lovely edifice of a car.

I agree, i have a Spirit II and am in a running bttle every couple of months with Mrs Fox demanding that it departs my life. However, showing her a pic of No1 gandson in it made her go all goooey eyed.!!!!
Seriously she didnt moan when i have just spent 1k getting a bit of cosmentics done.. the fronts seats look great, and even she tells people about how nice it looks, so she may be wearing down a bit.
Esp when i told her how much the V70 cost us last year. A lo more that the 1k on a bit of Crewe Botox..plus l have just found an Indie who will do a 12k service for £650.00 and the ex owner of Auto Trader uses him.

as an aside my mate has a Bentley Turbo and the difference in ride and performance is amazing. Te Bentley says LOUD pedal please, the Royce says just 70 will do me

Either way they are nice to travel about in protected from the outside world, by Wilton carpet beautiful veneer, 10 ex cow skins and a sound and heating system second to none. Worth every penny

2011 was a rather expensive year! I'm sure there can probably be no comfier way than wafting away 170k in a Bentley. Is this the "daily" or weekend car?
