I bet that E30 will be "interesting" to drive, especially in the wet. The E21 is my favourite, though.

I should put you in touch with a mate of mine, he has loads of projects including 2 CSL's, has a few 635's, E10 535's, Alpina E30 and E36 and plenty of others - his garage is nearly as messy as yours too :0). E23 is lovely, they look fantastic. 80's BMWs were the nuts :0)

Sorry to jump in here, but what type of Alpina is the E30? Any chance of getting him to post it up somewhere on here, as would love to see it?

Its a red C1 fully restored but done as a competition car with cage, extinguisher etc. Sounds nice. Hes out of the country at the moment - tends to spend the winters abroad.

Thanks for all the nice comments, they're not always received like this! All the ones on this thread were picked up for sub £600 so I'm always buying ones needing work or with bad body/paintwork, so I don't mind molesting them! I've got '000s of pictures and those were just the highlights, I don't want to bore you all!

The E21 323i M50 was a total wreck bought back in 2009 for only £100. I was put onto it by E21mark on here. It had an extremely bad running E30 2.5 M20 fitted, I have the receipts for the conversion by Lazerchrome back in the day! Previous to this I had cracked how to get the dual cam M50 into the E21 chassis and that was the target for the conversion.

The car was ROTTEN. Needing welding to the inner sills, outer sills, chassis rails, drivers floor, passenger floor, front inner arches, extensive work in the rear arches and boot area. It was really that bad...

As soon as I could I got the M50 in the bay, twisted more vertically than the normal M50 angle by using the original E21 M20 box, also keeping the E21 speedo drive in the process. The normal M50 angle would leave no room for the headers against the steering linkage.

Custom exhaust/headers, E36 328i radiator, kenlowe fan etc etc. It was getting there by this point

Rob0r spec custom shortened E21 struts fitted with E30 bilsteins with a coilover conversion kit. One of the best parts of the car. Wilwood lightweight calipers

Custom rose jointed fully adjustable rear coilovers with Rob0r spec modified E21 rear top mounts

It lives!!

MOT passed, road worthy, BRUTAL (and my lab Pad)

Shortly after... Rear shaft detonation

Some other finished shots...
