So now that we have a Primadonna who seems to spend more time off the road than on it I decided to add another car to the fleet for the Mrs on the school run or as she likes to call it her "shopping car".
Tidy 52 plate MCS, pretty much fully loaded for a bargainous 2.5K.

That is ridiculously cheap IMO! The early ones are still the best lookers too, and I even like that colour...
Does the power steering pump scream? Why is it all early MINI's seem to have this issue with the terrifying power steering? So loud you could hear it over my neighbors chavved-up One / Cooper lookalike with eBay backbox...

Yep the colour is different and with the black roof and mirrors it goes well imo. At first when I found it on Ebay the Mrs did not like the colour. Now she adores it along with the whole package.
The PS pump was done as a recall, don't worry I've checked all that and it is quiet.
The car has Chilli pack, HK Audio upgrade, heated seats, MFSW with cruise and rear tints. Only done 86k miles and as it turned out I knew the owner from an old job. One of the easiest 2.5K's I've ever parted with tbh
It will be worth that in 2 years time I reckon.

Wow, that is super cheap especially for one with a nice spec.
I had three early MINI's; a Cooper, a Cooper S and a One. I bought the latter trying to be sensible due yo having a job that required more driving but after the S, I hated it. t, that is a fantastic deal. Is that the going rate? Off to classifieds...Sorry for not responding sooner ladies and gents I didn't realise it had generated such interest which is nice to see.
Let me tell you a bit about how I happened on it. I was looking for a new car for SWMBO and she expressed a desire for a mini. Naturally due to my passion for performance cars it had to be the MCS. So I decided to look on Ebay for a good deal. I spotted this one not far from our house and sent the seller some questions and request for more pics. They obliged and we struck up a good rapport etc... unfortunately we were on holiday when the item ended and I missed getting the winning bid. (It ended at 2660). Being a realist I messaged the seller and said "If you experience the usual timewasters please mail me". So a few days laters I got the mail. Went over with the mrs same day and put a deposit on it. I contacted my BMW friend and obtained a copy of all service, warranty and recalls for the car which checked out well. Collected it that saturday and the Mrs fell in love with it.
As we collected and I rang the bell to meet the guy it was an old colleague! Small world.
So onto the drive. Yes the supercharger make a fantastic noise. Awesome and it goes well, not massively fast but it needs revving very hard to get the best out of it and at low revs it stumbles. I need to put Optimax in it as someone on a forum said that this "stumble" and hesitation at low revs is common to some of the early cars.
I am driving it to work this week and there are a couple of niggles with it.
1. Heater doesn't get hot. Probably a air lock in heating system
2. Airbag warning is on, common problem and related to static build up when seats are moved. Can be rectified with soldering iron or resetting Airbag ECU.
Other than that it got us up to Manchester and back in style.

OP - Thats a decent spec for an early car. How you finding the ride? Does it have run-flats or normal tyres?

The DMC trip was a safe wash sunday they do. My mate Nick runs it and he's very good. He detailed the M5 and transformed the car.Lovely car BTW OP
Process was Snow foam, hand wash, de-tar, wheels cleaned, car covered in rinse aid before rinsing off and towel drying. Following this the paintwork was wiped over with Bullet quick detailer / spray wax and windows were cleaned, trims and tyres treated.

Yep our back box rattles when cold. Common problem they rot. Solution: Mate at BMw has free JCW cat back
Air filter going in too when Mrs not looking lol
