Picked this up on Wednesday:
It's the 184 PS 2.0 TDI Quattro, with S line kit and S-Tronic gearbox in Daytona grey pearl.
After having a Golf GTD for 2 weeks previously, I swore I'd never buy a diesel again. Sadly my S3 was costing way too much for a 70 mile per day commute (was only averaging 23mpg at best, and filling up twice per week is a pain in the arse) so got traded in. Seem to be averaging around 45mpg so far which is good. Will save me enough to buy a set of tyres for my bike each month which is a nice incentive.
It's dull to drive, but I didn't really expect that much else to be honest. Interior is much nicer than the previous generation A3's. Sat nav is much improved too (can actually do full postcode search now). My only issues are how complicated they made all the steering wheel buttons (way too much stuff going on there) and the fact they took the shuffle function off the iPod
Plans are to have a tow bar fitted, have it de-badged and then have it remapped.

I can't fault it as a car. It's spot on at plodding along very economically.
It's just lacking the power (obviously) of the S3, the ride isn't as harsh (a good thing tbh) and the steering lacks all feeling (I think it's an electric steering system). Other than that it's fairly similar. I just miss the noise and the pops on the gear changes! Wanted the new S3 but couldn't justify the fuel cost for a daily driver.

New A3 is really growing on me at the moment but can't decide which I prefer, one of these or a MK7 GTD as I believe they are the same power. Although I have to say the interior on these looks so much more premium than the Golf
