My budget ring build

Hi All,

Myself and a few friends have a little project going for next September, buy and modify a car for under £500 that has to make it to, around and back from the ring.

My choice a £150 saxo vtr :-)

This will be a slow progress thread but hey here it goes,

Started life like this



The first job was to start taking the bits out i didnt need, pretty much everything







She now has a set of harneses but i dont have pics yet.. also a 421 manifold due to put on..

Also need to sort through the wiring and chop whats not needed

I know was brilliantly cheap... 1, no gear stick - £9.50 later from ebay 2, no manifold - £30 from ebay

When I got it it still had an mot too :-)

It's a full track car so is putting a few things back in for the mot :-)

Nice one OP, great value these cars if you can fix them your self, I bought a VTS for £200 a few months back.

Check the front wings and the boot floor for rust and check that rear axle!

Good advice

This would be my 3rd saxo.. 1 vtr ... 1 vts and now this...

I've done an axel on my vts that went and find them pretty easy to work on which helps :-)

Yeah they are really simple to work on, just as well really! I've changed the axle three times on my 106, the real thing that lets these cars down.

Very true, the rear axles... Mainly the vtr and vts ones I found really expensive so I used a 1.1 and just swapped everything across ... Got the axle for £20 that way :-)
